  1. Re: Remove Gimp as a possible pick as file manager in Preferred Applications

    Like this?

    dmn@Tyana-vm:~$ inode/directory
    bash: inode/directory: No such file or directory
    If so, it's not a valid command. I'm not sure how bash understands it.

    What you need to do is open...
  2. Re: Remove Gimp as a possible pick as file manager in Preferred Applications

    This looks like some terminal output. What command gave you this result?
  3. Re: Ubuntu 18.04: Trouble fixing bad install of Okular

    Flatpak is doing this too. But not before Ubuntu 20.04. You get a notification about it (see attached). I'm not aware of any settings for the updating policy in either Snaps or Flatpak. But, I don't...
  4. Re: Ubuntu 18.04: Trouble fixing bad install of Okular

    Your experience with the initial install of snap reminds me of mine. Using (Gnome) Software, there was no feedback as to progress. Fortunately, I let it be for awhile instead of aborting. Now, I...
  5. Re: Remove Gimp as a possible pick as file manager in Preferred Applications

    If you have no output to the command, then Gimp must be listed in the file ajgreeny named. Look for:

    inode/directory=gimp.desktop
    and remove it.

    If inode/directory DID appear in the output,...
  6. Re: Remove Gimp as a possible pick as file manager in Preferred Applications

    Step 1: Post the output of:

    cat /usr/share/applications/gimp.desktop | grep -i inode
  7. Re: Ubuntu 18.04: Trouble fixing bad install of Okular

    Firefox: Exiting due to channel error:
    Bug - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1538435
    Some reports here are for Firefox snap version.

    Okular: Segmentation fault.
    It crashed for some...
  8. Re: Ubuntu 18.04: Trouble fixing bad install of Okular

    Here's my snap list from this computer (has Okular snap). Since yours 'sometimes works', compare your packages (other than applications) with mine. Install any you don't have one at a time and test...
  9. Re: Progress bar not shown when copying file on ubuntu 20.04

    There is an transient icon that appears on the top bar of the file manager - a circle that fills as the transfer progresses. The progress and speed is also displayed in the dropdown during the...
  10. [SOLVED] Re: How to change width of column on left side of the screen

    Go to:

    System Tools > Settings > Appearance

    Under 'Dock', change the icon size to a smaller number to reduce the width.
    Turn on 'Autohide' if you want it hidden when windows overlap it, like...

    Re: Lubuntu - Software Installation

    The lock problem may go away if you just reboot your system. On your planned install, be sure you use the right package name - it should be gdebi
  12. Re: Ubuntu 18.04: Trouble fixing bad install of Okular

    That's not a helpful error message. I've not had any error messages with installing or running snaps, so can't offer any useful help in that regard. Your idea may be the quickest route in the end.
  13. Re: Ubuntu 18.04: Trouble fixing bad install of Okular

    Profile for Snaps:
    Firefox Snap profile location: ~/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox/

    As I recall, after changing the tracking channel I did not need to re-do any settings, so same profile.
  14. Re: Ubuntu 18.04: Trouble fixing bad install of Okular

    Disregard statements about the Firefox Snap profile location. Now I don't see any in ~/.mozilla/firefox, except for the default Firefox. After installing a Firefox Snap, it clearly doesn't use the...
  15. Re: Problems with CD with mp3s playing in car

    OP does say his player is mp3 capable. Mine is too. But, that said, it most likely would support audio CDs as well.

    ⇨ Some feedback to the responses so far would be helpful.

  17. Re: Problems with CD with mp3s playing in car

    One possibility is that you are burning an audio CD and not a data CD. For an mp3 CD, be sure you burn it as a Data CD.

    Re: How run 32 bits programs in 64 bits ?

    Lubuntu supports 32-bit. You can verify this yourself with the command in post #5. It will output 'i386'.

    From my notes, to get a 32-bit program to work, first step was Install: lib32z1 and...
  20. [SOLVED] Re: How to change width of column on left side of the screen

    Could you confirm you are using Lubuntu, and not Ubuntu? The 'column' could be the default Ubuntu dock which extends top to bottom and fits your description. Also suggesting this is your last thread...

  22. Re: Ubuntu 18.04: Trouble fixing bad install of Okular

    I've seen a notice when installing the Firefox Snap while the regular Firefox is still there. Essentially, it says the new install will have a new profile which allows them to coexist, and they do. I...
  23. Re: Ubuntu 18.04: Trouble fixing bad install of Okular

    It's not surprising that there is one. But a PPA is only for Ubuntu, not other distros like Fedora, Arch Linux, or Manjaro.

    I do use the PPA for the flatpak application. It gives you the latest...
  24. Re: Ubuntu 18.04: Trouble fixing bad install of Okular

    ⇨ nought2

    I checked out the Okular Snap. It installed without any problem, but as you report, it had two icons in the overview search result. Both launched Okular. I found this was because there...
  25. [SOLVED] Re: .desktop file wont work and it's driving me insane!

    You need the full path in the Exec= line.

    Example:

    [Desktop Entry]
    Version=1.0
    Type=Application
    Name=Machinarium
    Comment=Machinarium
    Icon=/home/dmn/games/Machinarium/menu-icon-3a.png
