    More testing. Installed Ubuntu generic 3.14 kernel into Debian and Debian still works.

    Removed apparmor from Ubuntu and it still doesn't work.

    Do no-one have any ideas?

    It could've started with an upgrade. I upgrade reguarly as it's just a home server. I'll have a look at the bios and see if changing the power settings change anything...

    If you're using port 22 to ssh in you'll need to forward that port on your router

    Then ssh in via your public_ip:22 - the router will forward that to your server
