[ubuntu] Re: Synaptic error on opening

put a # in front of line 55 in that file, save. Will need sudo to do the edit. Error message says something off with that line.

I hope some will help, but first this is the thread for the development version of ubuntu (edit: stupid me, it is not but my question remains valid), so you are attempting to install 16.10 beta1...

[PPC] Re: [PPC] (X)(L)ubuntu (MATE) 16.10 testing

Hi all, no one else seen a KMS related freeze with linux-image-4-8-0? This is iMac G5.

The kernel now is generic and no longer powerpc64. Boot gets to the point where a corrupted cursor shows,...

    Re: aquaris m10 ubuntu edition

There is this initiative, which if successful is a died-in-the-wool linux tablet, from the drivers up. If successful is the big qualifier, as they are moving the fundraiser from FundRazr to...

Yes, the absence of Whatsapp etc is a big problem for many, perhaps most potential users, no doubt. But official clients are up to the companies concerned unless there is an open API. And that is...

Re: Why Ubuntu Phone don't become Popular

No disagreement here - what also is true is that all of the above vary between the various devices - at any one moment, Meizu can be quite good, but BQ users battling some or the issue and visa...

Re: Why Ubuntu Phone don't become Popular

Jolla with Sailfish OS does exactly that and it hardly has become a serious player, even if they are about to release a tablet running Sailfish 2.0

What Jolla and Canonical are trying to do is...

  9. [ubuntu] Re: LibreOffice doesn't start since yesterday's update on Ubuntu 12.10

L-O is very widely used. If there is no bug report on Launchpad (I have'nt looked) I would suspect a local problem on your side. You can try
L-O from a devs PPA, now at v. 4 alpha.

  11. [ubuntu] Re: LibreOffice doesn't start since yesterday's update on Ubuntu 12.10

You can start libreoffice in a terminal with "loffice" or writer with "lowriter". That should give any error message.

And what version? Is this an update from a PPA? If so, there was a prolem with...

[ubuntu] Re: Not getting usb 2.0 speeds

A dead thread but for the record:

a device attached to a usb 2.0 (high-speed) capable port can be switched to full-speed because of irq issues. This can happen transparently even after attaching...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: Running Garmin Mapsource (6137) under Ubuntu with GPS access

A very stale thread but a small correction: the id 2459 is the mass storage Product ID for the GPSMap 62s. The "live" usb Product ID is 0003. Due to modeswitching - usb modems (GSM,UMTS,LTE) do it...

  20. [SOLVED] Re: What happened with Skype and necessary modules?

    @6205

I believe you probably have proposed updates (Karmic-proposed) enabled in synaptic / sources.list. Disable that and you should be able to install that needed alsa module. Works for me.
