It's been a long time. I did send my computer back to check this. They replaced the graphics card at no charge. Ubuntu still has this blinking issue. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
Update, I sent my computer back to MSI to check if this is caused by the graphics card or the LCD. We will see if they figure it out. It seems to me that it has to be one of those things because this...
I've noticed something new. When I'm either typing or moving the mouse, the weird dimming / flickering stops. I'm not sure what that means. I tried to use a screen recorder to see if it would capture...
I literally just got this laptop back in the mail from MSI. I have until May 7th until my warranty is up. This is kind of a dire situation. I need to know if it's possible that this is a software...
I mean, it was like a month or so ago that I was having these issues. Unfortunately, the proprietary driver didn't fix the issue. :(
edit: issue is about the same. It was flickering when starting...
I'm going to give that a try, though, when using Ubuntu before... I had tearing issues with the proprietary driver and Nouveau was more stable. we'll see what happens.

No black screen, no white screen. It's like a quick dimming in and out. It's more noticeable in darker colors.
I have an NVIDIA GM204M [GeForce GTX 970M] and I'm using the current Nouveau driver.

When I installed Ubuntu, I selected English (US). I would like to change the layout to English (Macintosh), so that I can use Mac OS quick keys. I tried to change this in Text Entry. I even deleted...
SOLVED: For some reason, I had to delete all of my Network settings and re-enter it. I had entered it all during the install. Once, I did that, it works just fine.
I installed Ubuntu on this laptop and I got this error window saying "The system is running in low-graphics mode". Any suggestions?
After that the options are:

I've been looking for a fix for this for over a year now. I keep checking on the Nvidia devtalk forums and just recently read that it could be another 6 months until this is fixed. Is this true? Or...
I keep getting this error when I boot Ubuntu 16.04:

My question is: what caused this to be an issue all of the sudden? I've been using Ubuntu for a while now and never encountered this until I made this post.
So, I tried sudo apt-get update again... Here is what I got:

Ok, I got an answer from Nvidia. They said that the update is available, but that it must be done manually until Linux distros add it to their repositories. They gave me this link:

Yes, I have an optimus setup. That's what I figured. I was skeptical that the xconfig would work because I have had countless people try to help me fix the tearing on my setup to no avail. That's...
So, should I just add that one line? Also, you are going to have to be more specific about what missing details you are speaking of. Like I said, I have no clue what I'm doing here. I'm not sure what...
