Fixed.
Went here:
http://maketecheasier.com/install-kde-4-5/2010/08/18
Added the repository for KDE 4.5.
Reloaded synaptic, selected kde-runtime. Installed.
Installed Rkward- no problems.
From the terminal:
It would appear that rkward requires kde-runtime, but I can not install that. This is strange to me as my home computer has rkward up and running. Any suggestions?
Running Ubuntu (mint-katya), and I'm trying to update the program Rkward (to 0.5.7), I added the repository and re-ran update manager.
Rkward does not show up in update manager, but shows up in...
Got it.
First changed to root:
user@computer:~$ su -s
root@computer:~# mv /root/Pictures /home/user/Pictures
Done. Thanks for the help- finally figured it out.
Thanks for the quick reply. Changing to sudo and using no -r option gives...

I recently had to recover a partition with pictures on it. Shotwell did a great job, but put all the pictures in the root user's picture folder. I am trying my hardest to move the picture folder...
The short story is that I broke my wireless on my computer and can't fix it. Now I'm trying to upgrade by CD from karmic to the current 10.04 ubuntu (lucid) and see if that will fix it.

I'm tempted to go back to a live CD and reinstall ubuntu. Any other ideas before I do that?
I also just went through the ndiswrapper troubleshooting guide, and there are no obvious problems with my driver or device or ndiswrapper.
I'm at a loss for what to try next to get wireless...
Alrighty, I think I found a similar page under a ubuntu bug. I think I'm going to try to boot to an earlier kernel and see if I can update from there.
News to come soon.

Yesterday, I was trying to network a linux and windows computer together and played around with Samba. I edited the /etc/samba/smb.conf and the /etc/nsswitch.conf files. Soon I found my wireless...

Anyone have the same problem? Or even, lucky me, a solution?
Thanks again. I added that line at the end of the file and here is the output from ifconfig and iwconfig.
Me@Computer:~$ ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:1f:c6:6f:38:da

Me@Computer:~$ nano /etc/network/interfaces
Contains the following:

Thanks for the quick reply again.
Me@Computer:~$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
pan0 no wireless extensions.
Thanks. There actually were some updates. But sadly, no wireless or restricted driver updates. Still the same output for ifconfig and no wireless options anywhere.
ps- I also know that the device is working because it works on a windows computer immediately.
I have been working to get my wireless card working on my ubunty (Jaunty) setup with no success.
Here's the information:
I have a x86 Jaunty system. My usb wireless card is a linksys/ralink...
My firefox has been acting wierd. This happened just after the recent update to it. For starters- my address bar does not quite work. It displays what page I'm at, but will not go to a site that I...
So, just out of curiousity, I tried a wired connection. The wired internet connection works in bash prompt, but not jaunty. So I'm updated with the following commands again:
