[ubuntu] Re: Increase the size kvm vm with lvm?

    I've never used this tool.

Take a look at the manpage.

    SYNOPSIS
    virt-resize [--resize /dev/sdaN=[+/-]<size>[%]]
    [--expand /dev/sdaN] [--shrink /dev/sdaN]
    ...
  2. Re: [Antergos] SMB stall to 0kb/sec when receiving data

+1 on using NFS for unix-to-unix needs.
  3. Re: Making a raid0 with mdadm without losing existing data?

It would be LVM + some file system
    or
ZFS. ZFS includes volume management, so using LVM with it wouldn't be smart with ZFS.

LVM includes the mdadm code, so it probably has the same RAID10...

[ubuntu] Re: Increase the size kvm vm with lvm?

So you are using LVM on the hostOS which provides a file-based VM storage area
    and
you are using LVM inside the guest OS.

In this storage setup, the storage changes on the host doesn't directly...

    Re: help!!!!

If you have a smaller flash storage device, perhaps a 4GB one, then I'd use that to avoid wiping the data on the big flash drive.

Having a dedicated Ubuntu boot-flash storage device is really...

[kubuntu] Re: Multi page document file

I've been using gscan2pdf for years - perhaps a decade now. I have an autofeeding scanner, so all the pages in a single feed are put into the same PDF file. It also has OCR which isn't great, but...
  7. Re: [Antergos] SMB stall to 0kb/sec when receiving data

What to the samba logs say?
Check the client and server logs.
  8. [lubuntu] Re: Lubuntu VM (VirtualBox) with 4G LTE USB Stick - slow internet speed

Don't try to use usb passthrough to the guestOS. Just let the hostOS manage the networking and have the guest use virtio for network connections. The performance should be the same as what the host...

Re: CPU went to 100% for 2 hours

What does the server do? What are the risks? Plain ftp? Any php or node.js webapps?

There have been some crypto-mining malware specifically designed to work on Linux running around the last few...
  10. [ubuntu] Re: Authentication Failure after changing Auth atribute

Have you been watching the system log files? Anything inside those?

Depending on how you've setup the system, some of those might be removed at each reboot. You can set limit for how many or...

[lubuntu] Re: Increase /boot space using lvm 16.04LTS

Reinstall. This time make the /boot larger. Restore using your backups. If your backups don't support doing that in 30-45min, you need better backups.

Need some facts unless you want wild guess...

[lubuntu] Re: Increase /boot space using lvm 16.04LTS

In ubuntu installs, /boot usually isn't managed by LVM. It is usually a straight ext2 file system on a primary partition. That means lvresize won't work. Here's my 16.04 system.

    $ lsblk -o...
  13. Re: Making a raid0 with mdadm without losing existing data?

Using what you know already has lots of pluses.

So, let's think through how to convert a RAID1 2-partition setup to a RAID10 4-partition setup, using only mdadm....

[lubuntu] Re: How to get commands to run at startup

My last lubuntu install was on 16.04, so 18.04 may have (probably?) changed the config from where it has been since 2010. Progress ... or just trying to avoid confusion as LXDE and LXQt work was...

[ubuntu] Re: Suggestions for a Text Editor with Macros

Picking an editor is a very personal thing. If you want to start a holy war in any computing forums, just ask "what editor should I use." Part of the Unix culture and has been since the 1980s. ...

rsync doesn't remove any files that don't exist in the source tree, unless that is specifically requested. There is a --delete option. There are ways to delete-before and delete-after the rsync...

Re: 100 years back in time

I did some research about where I live now and where my ancestors were in 1920.

I'd pull the battery out of the phone. If I had a charger, that would simplify things. Without a charger, it would...
  18. Re: IP static netplan configuration does not work

That file is not used since Ubuntu 17.10 ... unless you swap out the netplan stuff and install the old ifup/down packages. The march forward continues, even if we prefer the older method.

  20. Re: Best method to cast all audio from headless server

  21. Re: Best method to cast all audio from headless server

I'm weary of Plex too! Would much prefer a F/LOSS solution. They do nag in subtle ways about having a Plex account and I suppose...
  22. Re: Making a raid0 with mdadm without losing existing data?

You would learn 1000x more by setting up a tiny z-pool and playing around with 4 virtual disks for 30 minutes. There are lots and lots of intro-to-zfs or tutorial-on-zfs articles out there.

    As for...
  23. Re: Best method to cast all audio from headless server

Re: problem after mounting a new device

I skimmed those instructions. Probably should...
  25. Re: Making a raid0 with mdadm without losing existing data?

And interest in using ZFS? With that much storage, I'd really want the added protection of ZFS.

It is a best practice to always use partitions for RAID sets. Yes, you can use the entire disk, but...
