You're using kernel 4.4, right? This is progress. For previous machines and kernels I have often had to unload and reload modules as part of suspend/resume and included them as part of the power...

I've been running 4.2 and 4.3 with intel_idle.max_cstate=0 with no problem with freezes. Interestingly, it seems to have no noticeable effect on battery life.
