  1. [server] Re: 20.04LTS: Firewalld, default zone set to block SSH, but doesn't

Yes, I do not see a problem. The first entry is just saying that the 10.103.160.180:49310 session create SYN packet was allowed, as expected.

O.K., the second entry might have been misleading....
  2. [server] Re: 20.04LTS: Firewalld, default zone set to block SSH, but doesn't

I can not help with, I assume, the Firewalld rules you have listed. I only know iptables, and struggle with front end program (UFW, Firewalld) generated iptables rule sets. If you post the resulting...
  3. [server] Re: 20.04LTS: Firewalld, default zone set to block SSH, but doesn't

I don't know what to say. I prefer iptables directly myself, and find the various front ends, well, annoying. However, many like ufw or firewalld.

Then your rule should be 0.0.0.0/0, intsead of...
  4. [server] Re: 20.04LTS: Firewalld, default zone set to block SSH, but doesn't

Your iptables rule set listed contains a lot stuff that I have never seen before.
Regardless, and based on the packet counters it never seems to hit your ssh deny rule, and therefore falls through...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu goes to some sort of kernel while locked

The taint flags are Proprietary, Externally built, Unsigned module loaded. Likely some nvidia kernel module.

I'm a server person and no help with nvidia stuff, but luckily there are many around...
  6. Re: Kernel 5.15 RC (Release Candidate) series

Mainline kernel 5.15-rc5 is available. It makes sense that it compiled properly, since we know the required patch, for the kernel configuration that Ubuntu seems to want to use, finally got added...

    Hi,

Thanks for the continued work on this.

I maximize any terminal history buffers available, as I often want to go back and look at something from awhile ago, which may or may not still be...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu goes to some sort of kernel while locked

That information should also be in the /var/log/kern.log file. Find the beginning of the log entries and copy and paste its entirety herein.
  9. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu goes to some sort of kernel while locked

The interrupt took too long message by itself is not too much of a concern.

    Re: Ubuntu Server Power Mode

    I don't know about windows.

The answer to your question depends on your hardware, processor make and model. Have a look at this:

  11. Re: Kernel 5.15 RC (Release Candidate) series

O.K. so, mainline PPA kernel 5.15-rc4 amd64 compile failed for the same reasons as earlier in this series. However, the daily for today compiled fine. I see that fix from August 2nd was finally...

  13. Re: Kernel 5.15 RC (Release Candidate) series

Kernel 5.15-rc3 is available from the Ubuntu mainline PPA and kernel.org.

I have only been running it for a couple of minutes:

  14. Re: Ubuntu does not always communicate with server.

How do your various computers get their IP addresses? Via DHCP or static? Could there be any IP address conflict? Could there be a routing issue?

I would start by using tcpdump (or wireshark, if...

O.K. thanks for the explanations. And yes, now I see that "ubuntu-drivers" is contained within the package "ubuntu-drivers-common". I got the source code via:

  16. Re: Kernel 5.15 RC (Release Candidate) series

    Kernel 5.15-rc2 is available.

Recall, for the last 2 months I have been having BIOS issues related to BIOS forcing HWP (A.K.A. Intel Speed Shift) force enabled, rather than letting the OS (linux)...

Did you mean to write "--all"?

Thanks zika. I have been watching the daily. The code itself still has has not had the patch, that has existed since August 2nd, applied. They have disabled compiling the problematic code.

Re: Older CPU out-pacing newer one

"pegged" doesn't tell the whole story, as we would need to also know the CPU frequency. I wonder if your computer is throttling for some reason. I would suggest to run turbostat (linux-tools-common...

  25. Kernel 5.15 RC (Release Candidate) series

    Hi All,

Just starting the kernel 5.15-rc series thread. The kernel has been released on kernel.org, and I assume will appear shortly on the Ubuntu mainline PPA.

    I haven't compiled it yet.
