    As pointed out before, they refer to the default Desktop Environment.

    I usually just install the generic Ubuntu and then install what other stuff I want to use.

    A quick and easy fix is to install a graphics card that supports Linux. I have had good luck with nVidia cards.

    To find out what your video card is, open an x terminal and examine the results of the command:

    sudo lshw | less

    Scroll down to display and report back.

    I would use the software manager or synaptic to install nexuiz.
