    [all variants] Re: Firewall

You could also try Firestarter...it's very easy to use for someone who knows nothing about firewalls (I dunno if that's you or not, but just the same, it's very easy to use and understand). This is...

[ubuntu] Re: Bluetooth not working in Intrepid!

    +1

This is what makes me think it has something to do with the module being improperly loaded by the kernel, but I'm not a developer and don't know for sure...
  3. Re: Which OS do you spend more time fixing? Windows or Ubuntu?

I spend a lot more time fixing Ubuntu, but only because I like to break it in order to fix it and learn new things. In my limited experience, fixing Windows is harder, less gratifying, and not...

    TrackMania Nations and WINE

    Hey everyone...
I tried to install TrackMania Nations under WINE last night, and everything seemed to be going okay until I tried to actually play the game--that is, it installed fine, and...

    Nope.

TPBM has seen Led Zeppelin live :guitar:
  9. Re: suggestions for a cheap graphics tablet that works in linux

Hmm...that's awfully strange...I used the same name as you in the HAL script, and it seems to work fine. I attached mine for comparison, but I dunno how much it'll help:(

    Were there any errors...

    Oh, yeah.

TPBM is not looking forward to going back to school this week.
  11. Re: suggestions for a cheap graphics tablet that works in linux

    Angry_Mushi-

Would you mind posting the make and model of your tablet? Also, could you post the outputs of the following commands?

    grep -i name /proc/bus/input/devices

    lshal | less
    ...
  12. Re: suggestions for a cheap graphics tablet that works in linux

You would have to change into the directory where you saved the file; for example, if you saved it to the desktop, you'd type

    cd Desktop

You would then have to copy or move the file.

    If you...

[ubuntu] Re: Bluetooth not working in Intrepid!

We've been testing new things in this bug report, and downgrading to the Hardy kernel seems to be a good workaround (not a fix, though), at least temporarily. For me, bluetooth worked with this...

Re: The person below you game

True. Even though I wanna be a vet someday and volunteer several hours a week at animal shelters, I feel that it is more disrespectful to the animal to kill it and not eat it than to put it to good...
  15. Re: suggestions for a cheap graphics tablet that works in linux

    I have a Mousepen 8x6.

According to this page, the G-Pen has been tested and is supported...I assume that if one Genius tablet works with this driver, the others should as well:)

    Good luck!...
  16. Re: suggestions for a cheap graphics tablet that works in linux

So I finally got my Genius tablet last night, and after a very easy setup, following this guide, the tablet works beautifully in Intrepid:D

If you do end up getting one of these and use the above...

Re: The person below you game

My guess is that you'd have to replace the entire back cover, since the gaudiness is probably under some sort of superglued laquer finish:(

TPBM is bored out of their mind.

[ubuntu] Re: Bluetooth not working in Intrepid!

Would you mind posting the outputs of

    hcitool dev
    and

    grep | dmesg 'Bluetooth'

That would be great, and also could you post your computer/bluetooth adapter specs?

    Thanks!

[ubuntu] Re: Emerald - Ugly shadow step

Go into Emerald Theme Manager (located in System>Preferences), highlight your theme, then click the Edit Theme tab. Under this, click the Frame/Shadows tab and edit to your liking.

    Good luck!...

[ubuntu] Re: Help - "purple screen of death"?

Did you change any Compiz settings recently, such activating plugins? If so, try disabling them...activating a plugin that isn't entirely stable can screw with the whole system:(

    Good luck!

    [ubuntu] Re: good movie player

I like mplayer a lot, VLC is also really good...never tried Xine, though.

I also like Totem, but since it doesn't come installed with all the codecs, it's not at the top of my list.

So far, no one has come back and said they've had any luck with the new Bluez:(

  25. [kubuntu] Re: Window decoration missing without compiz or emerald

Go to System>Preferences>Sessions and check for something that says "compiz --replace" or "emerald --replace"
