[ubuntu] Re: Upgrade to 9.10: Failed to install kernel

Yeah, I think just try rebooting and see if the new kernel loads. The installer will never reboot automatically, it will always let you know that it's done and give you the choice to reboot or...

[ubuntu] Re: Upgrade to 9.10: Failed to install kernel

Yeah, I guess just try to reboot later and post back from the LiveCD if it doesn't work. Either way, let me know when you get it all worked out.

[ubuntu] Re: Upgrade to 9.10: Failed to install kernel

I think you're right about the linux headers, go ahead and run:

    sudo apt-get install linux-headers-2.6.31-14-generic

first before running the other command that I asked you to run earlier.

[ubuntu] Re: Problem with PPPoE access

I'm clueless now, I'll try to research it a little bit if I have time. By the way, check that the cable is plugged in on both sides (it doesn't hurt to check :)).

  9. [ubuntu] Re: Can't update fresh installed Ubuntu 10.04

Is this a clean install? If not, try to run

    sudo apt-get upgrade

    That will upgrade the repositories.

[ubuntu] Re: Problem with PPPoE access

If you are trying to connect with ethernet, there should be some things with ethX (X is a number usually 0). Just to be safe copy everything onto the forum.

I suggest you back-up your data before continuing to do anything else. Later on we can try to reboot.

[ubuntu] Re: Problem with PPPoE access

    Hmmm...could you type in:

    ifconfig

and copy the output (by the way, this command is the same as ipconfig in windows). This might be able to give me a little more info.

  24. [wubi] Re: Grub rescue error after upgrading from 9.10 to 10.04.1

As far as recovering it with the Windows Vista/7 disc, you have to select the language and when it says "Install Now" there will be an option to "Repair your Computer". Once you've clicked that,...
