    of coz I tried Powertop. When it is running, it decreases power rate from 19w to 17w, with only one "bad". still very high.

    64 bit Ubuntu consumes much more power?

    I changed to 64bit 12.04 from 32bit 11.10.

    Performance is a bit better, I feel. But the battery life dropped to 4h from 8h. This is not acceptable.

    Is this normal? I mean for 64bit ubuntu. If...

    Well, maybe I got the wrong memory. But anyway, Ultrabooks' cpu will be very powerful.

    How can you stand for the noise and heat generated by an CD-ROM while watching movie? Have you tried movie on USB-HDD or even USB flash disk?

    Why it's still better and dependable with a CD-Rom?...

    I also had this thought. but later I noticed that if i just disable wifi, ubuntu still freezes. if i switch off the wifi, no freeze at all.

    After struggling with this annoying problem form months, at last I know that I'm not the only one who is suffering.

    The symptom on my Dell D620 is similar, ubuntu 10.04 totally freezes suddenly...

    already tried sudo displayconfig-gtk, showing "Nvidia geforce 7 series" card and "plug 'n' play"...

    after changing xorg, or "gtk-preconfigue xorg.conf", the resolution is changed to "800x600"/640x480, but not higher.

    glx ok, 3d acceleration ok. default resolution 1280x800

    1. make sure "wins support=yes" in /etc/samba/smb.conf
    2. add "wins" after the line of "host" in /etc/nsswitch.conf
    3. restart
