Thanks for the instructions. I am back in business; however, I still don't have sound! :(
I will go back to the start of this thread and carry on where I left off. Presumably this...

How do I uninstall VMware Server? I installed it following the instructions in this thread, that is, I used the apt-get command. It doesn't show up in either of my two GUI installers -- Autmatix or...
Great NOWTO, but I didn't seem to succeed in installing wine.
I used Automatix to install wine, then picked up the HOWTO. During installation I got these error messages:

USB DEVICES NOT RECOGNIZED
Excellent HOWTO. Installed WindowsXP, powered up the machine, but it didn't recognize two USB storage devices: an external HDD (Freecom FHD2-Pro) and a 512Kb memory...
This is an excellent Howto, and the VM seems to be just what I need. It installed flawlessly and it is working as it should.
HOWEVER, I can't seem to get file sharing working. I followed Chris's...
I'm a newbie, so can't answer most of your questions, but regarding the wireless connection, I have Ubuntu Dapper Duck beta installed on an ageing Dell laptop, using a Belkin wireless PCMCIA card,...
The HOWTO looks very promising, and everything went fine until this bit of the dialogue:
