This solved my launcher problem. I clean installed Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit and was having issues updating launcher. Still cannot get Game/downloader preferences window. It will be just blank screen.

did you install all updates via update manager?

Had screen going dim issue,...
Don't think you can do that in mac os x? I don't have it installed anymore.
Two finger is mapped to right click in ubuntu.

For your case, I would suggest using Ubuntu in windows/osx using Virtualbox.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mactel-support && sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

I did single boot install Ubuntu on intel-based macbook pro. No issues during installation.
You should be having absolutely no issues. Ubuntu works out of box just fine with every driver, app.
Anyone else have Ubuntu 11.1 installed on MBP alone?

Mine is same system first installation had this issues. After a week I re-installed Ubuntu again and updated on first logon and never had this issue.

Hello All,
I have WoW game copied to external hard disk. Now that my laptop is ubuntu only, how can I play WoW from this folder without downloading again through wine.

Yea, I have exact issue like OP too.
Been using Ubuntu latest on mbp alone. Few issues concern me is lengthy boot and shut down times compared to both os x/boot camp windows.
Had dim brightness issue, but after updates and restart it...
