My UNDERSTANDING is that MyUnity is more centered to the tweaking of the Unity interface, rather than the Ubuntu system as a whole (that said, I've never used that utility so I don't know for sure)....
That's not a bad idea, however I see no reason to stop a perfectly good and valid discussion of Linux distributions just because of that goal. They are not mutually exclusive.
I very much...
My netbook is currently running Pinguy OS, and for the moment I am not an Ubuntu user, but I will be when 12.04 comes out, both because I want a change and because I plan to use Ubuntu as a product...
^Thanks, I'm sticking with Remastersys for now, but someone suggested alternative methods, which I will look into down the road.
@Trapper: I'm not asking how to modify the color scheme and the...
Desktop environments can be installed and uninstalled as you wish. Install a desktop, try it, and if it's not your cup of tea, remove it!! No biggie :)

@Trapper: I used the Perfectminimal script to download and install Lubuntu on my system (which included LXDM or whatever the name of their display manager is). From there, I used the instructions you...
^Hmm...might be something to look into later on, but I think I'll stay with Remastersys for the time being. I'll pursue the polish after I have a good, working concept.
When using the...
Thank you very much for the information on configuring Light DM! It's MUCH appreciated!! I was going to need to find that eventually.
Here is a development update for the Paradise OS project.
Different distros have different goals, and therefore aren't going to support every darn thing in the universe. Ubuntu is downright refusing to even CONSIDER offering Gnome 2 (okay, I take that...
Isn't most of this already taken care of by Wikipedia?
So Pepper is NOT a Flash replacement, but rather a Javascript replacement...so in other words, Flash will no longer be offered for Linux at all. Great.
So, for the time being, until Mozilla adds support, Firefox users are out of luck? Is Pepper Open Source? In other words, how can Pepper be added to Firefox if Google has a monopoly lock on the...
Any way to tweak it back to what Gnome 2 used to be? Can we insert a system menu, and can we make the "add to panel" thing be just a simple right click again? In addition, what do you mean by 2D and...
Hmm...the theme kinda looks pretty slick just from looking through those screenshots. I'll have to check it out :)
When you say the "download file" what are you referring to?
Haha NICCEEE! I suggested it as the Runs Linux for the Linux Action Show! :)
Cool to see Ubuntu running in a gas station. Now, if only we can find Ubuntu running in an electric charging station...
Anybody know how well this'll run on a low-end Netbook?
Well, I'm biased here, because I actually started on Mac OS X before Linux. Mac OS X is good for multimedia, and has that "just works" kind of polish. I mean yes, it has it's bugs and issues, but in...

Well I got all the right letters, just with a lot of other stuff in between :D
Nope. Sorry. Never heard of that company before.
The person below me has tried MATE before :)
One little problem...it's impossible to actually count TO infinity, because infinity isn't a number.
However, I'll say 108 :)
^Indeed indeed. However, Linux in general can be "made your own" anyway, perhaps just not with the same ridiculous amount of flexibility as Arch.
^I would hazard a guess that your hazarded guess is indeed correct. So my hope is to offer a choice between Ubuntu 12.04 and Linux Mint 12.
