  1. [ubuntu] Repository changed its value.. must be accepted explicitly before upgrades can be

    applied.
This is the first time I've encountered these messages when trying to update and upgrade PPAs. There's "Repository changed its default priority for apt_preferences(5) from 500 to 100." and...
  2. Reinstalling on a Windows dual-boot machine

If I clean reinstall Ubuntu on a dual-boot machine, where during the prior install Ubuntu detected Windows bootloader and grub was placed to coincide with that, will I cause any problems by repeating...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Dell Inspiron 13 7391 2in1 and Ubuntu 19.10 - no wifi

Thanks. So is there an obvious reason why wifi would work whilst trying Ubuntu from the pen drive, but not from the hdd having installed with secure boot switched off? It seems that if the pen...

  8. [SOLVED] Re: Grub mbr issues with an installation to usb hard drive

Are UEFI and ‘secure boot’ synonymous? If I disable UEFI and switch to ‘legacy’ in the bios and try to boot I get told that there’s no boot filename received and no bootable device.
  9. [SOLVED] Re: Grub mbr issues with an installation to usb hard drive

OK, if I've understood the advice correctly this is the link, though it looks like a complete report rather than a summary(?). I should add that the live CD was a USB flash drive, so there are two...
  10. [SOLVED] Re: Grub mbr issues with an installation to usb hard drive

Thanks for your help. I’ve been somewhat distracted with other things and I’m taking my time to digest the concepts mentioned in your reply, but I’ll get onto this shortly.
  11. [SOLVED] Grub mbr issues with an installation to usb hard drive

Around a year ago I wanted to try transitioning from Windows 10 to Ubuntu (I installed from a version 16 ISO and it may have then been updated to whatever was current at the time)... I knew that...
