  1. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Usage Analyzer with Ubuntu (GNOME fallback)

I have rebooted several times. That is usually one of the first things I do when experiencing difficulties. And I cleaned out the older kernels a few days ago.

I may simply do a fresh install of...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Usage Analyzer with Ubuntu (GNOME fallback)

exo-util was already installed, and I changed the FM to Nautilus. But the problem is the same as with Thunar -- trying to connect with other computers on my LAN via Places/Connect to Server brings...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Usage Analyzer with Ubuntu (GNOME fallback)

FWIW, I use Thunar as my file manager, not Nautilus, but of course Nautilus is installed.
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Usage Analyzer with Ubuntu (GNOME fallback)

gnome-default-applications-properties gives this error message -- Command not found.
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Usage Analyzer

Sorry. I am running Ubuntu 14.04. But I do no have Settings> Tabs> Preferred Applications. I am running gnome fallback.
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Usage Analyzer

I cannot find Preferred Applications in the menus. And there does not seem to be a right-click option for Places/Connect to Server.
  7. [ubuntu] Disk Usage Analyzer with Ubuntu (GNOME fallback)

All of a sudden, whenever I open a network connection, this app opens instead of a filemanager, and I cannot get rid of it. It also opens whenever I plug in an external usb flash drive. I cannot...

    [ubuntu] Re: 16.04 fallback

Yes, I understand that gnome fallback had to be installed separately in 14.04. That is what I am running on my four computers. But I am wondering if that same feature is still available for 16.04.

The kernel update that was issued today -- 3.13.0-66 -- killed my computer. Fortunately I was able to go back to the prior one -- 3.13.0-65. When restarting after the install and just after logging...

[ubuntu] Re: ssh to get to system files

So how can this be changed? It was not set up that way, as I can log into another machine on the LAN with my account on it and get to anywhere.

ALso, when I use ssh://ip it changes to sftp://ip.

[ubuntu] Re: ssh to get to system files

It logs into my /home directory on the remote computer, and I cannot get to anything else, e.g. system files and other named partitions. This is true whether I use the terminal or Places/Connect to...

    [ubuntu] Re: Printing Problem

You might try reinstalling. My problem was not with setting up the HP LaserJet as a local printer (never had difficulties with that, using a parallel to USB cable), but as a network one.

    [ubuntu] Re: Printing Problem

The latest kernel upgrade fixed the problem automagically. 3.13.0-58.
  16. [ubuntu] Re: HP LaserJet 1020 Plus installation - UBUNTU 15.04

Try using System Settings/Printers to set it up manually. Or system-config-printer from a terminal. hplip is unreliable, for me.

I need burning software that will allow specifying a zero gap between tracks when creating an audio disc. AFAIK, Brasero has no option for doing this.

    I am burning flac files.

  23. [SOLVED] Re: Problems after Install of 14.04 flashback

Update: I re-installed and formatted /home, then copied back all of the dot files. Works perfectly! All my bookmarks, email accounts, email, and virtualbox machine.

    Thanks for the assistance!
  24. [SOLVED] Re: Problems after Install of 14.04 flashback
