    Comment out the line DIRS=$*

    and replace with

    DIRS=/path/to/your/backgrounds

    Agree... I've tried upgrading/downgrading everything (kernel, sound, video, ff, pidgin), and Jaunty still freezes my D830. I'm seriously thinking about reinstalling with another distro.

    My random freezing has stopped after updating to the latest kernel, currently @ http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30-rc8/

    I don't have more than a few hours testing...
