  1. Re: How do I run Ubuntu from a flash drive?

Just install to the USB stick using a different USB stick. The fact that it is USB doesn't make any difference to Ubuntu in any way. A disk is a disk
  2. [SOLVED] Re: upgrading ubuntu-server-20.04.2-lts --> " " 21.10 impish daily build via an iso

Yes you need the intermediates. If you run:

    sudo vi /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades

    and change:

    Prompt=lts
  3. [ubuntu] Re: I think firefox freeze my system and I have to reboot

Do other browsers do the same?
Do other applications cause the issue (not web browsers)?
Is it particular content that causes the issue like Java or YouTube content etc?
  4. [ubuntu] Re: I did something wrong with 20.04]

If your documents are important... You have made a backup of them.... Right?
  5. [SOLVED] Re: upgrading ubuntu-server-20.04.2-lts --> " " 21.10 impish daily build via an iso

You will need to upgrade to 20.10 first. You can only leapfrog versions when you are upgrading LTS to LTS. The packages will install but you are not following the advised upgrade path.

    Once you...

  7. [ubuntu] Re: Sharing Home on separate Partition

I suggest a small partition for /home (say 20Gb) then a large Ext4 partition where all casual data is stored. This can be accessed by many distributions on the same system and reduce issues. It also...

[SOLVED] Re: How can I easilly check cpu temp

Depends on the CPU. Check manufacturers documentation as well as the cooling you are using. There is no single value here
  10. [SOLVED] Re: Running "x2goclient" on Android devices ... sort of

I manage Windows entirely with Powershell. I don't suggest you use VNC to Windows servers and IMHO RDP should not be used by engineers to resolve issues on servers.
The only real use case for this I...
  11. [SOLVED] Re: Running "x2goclient" on Android devices ... sort of

Nef you do this you should see if there is a sleeker solution. Like SSH or Web interfaces which apps can connect to (VLC and Transmission spring to mind). A lot of the time there is a better option...

  14. [ubuntu] Re: Installing Ubuntu on HP Omen Desktop

If you boot to Windows, then shut it down (not reboot) then cold boot to the Ubuntu installer, does it help. Windows doesn't fully shut down if you reboot and may still be holding the storage, making...

Re: VNC Viewer on Headless Setup

What are you wanting to do on the remote system when you connect with VNC? Why do you need the full desktop session? What activities will you be doing once you connect?

  19. Re: New To Linux, Disabled Password Login SSH

You could have also booted to live CD, mounted the internal disk and grabbed the key pair
  20. Re: Could I install Ubuntu on a 8gb SD card and install the apps on an external hard

8Gb is plenty for Ubuntu. You could have /home on a separate storage but you cannot change where packages are installed.

  22. [SOLVED] Re: what is the default root password for ubuntu-21.04-desktop OEM?

Why are you using root? In Ubuntu you use your own password and account to authenticate sudo. Leave the root account alone.

    [ubuntu] Re: USB3 Boot Failure

Not booting USB 3 will leave the port free for external storage devices you want to use. Over time the kernel will use the RAM as disk cache and will hardly touch the USB storage.
