    Re: OpenCL on Intel

They only made a 64 bit linux OpenCL. Unfortunately, you really need a 32 bit version to compile WINE with it.
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Transmission, and external hard disk - weird lockup

Interesting you should say that! No atm its just partitioned into a tiny FAT32 partition for programs that should allow windows (although none of them work) to use the other partition which is Ext3...

    Poll: Re: What looks best?

This poll doesn't work. I voted for B and at the time of posting, apparently no-one had voted for B.

I think the HD's in good condition.
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Transmission, and external hard disk - weird lockup

    Thanks fela,

I ran fsck after the first time this happened, after not fscking it for ages. It fixed a number of errors, but apparently its clean now.

Heres the result of smartctl --all /dev/sdb...

    Hellooooooo!

Can anyone help me with this weird problem please?

I'm running Transmission BitTorrent client on ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat. The files I'm downloading to are on this external HD...

    [ubuntu] Re: Trouble with libcurl

This is silly. The same thing happened to me, and adding -lcurl solved it even though....

    $ curl-config --libs
    -lcurl -Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions

.... it gets included by curl-config!

[all variants] Re: TCP congestion control

But what about the slow start? Surely it's better to just risk firing off as packets as fast as possible to begin with? Especially when web browsing.

    [ubuntu] Re: Tar.gz files?

The exe file is not for linux. If your lucky, there's some other executable for linux, or a Makefile or configure script. If you don't find them, try running it under wine. What is the program?

    [ubuntu] Re: Internet Issues

    1) I don't blame you for not sharing your ip.
    2) If you got an ip, theres no point in running dhclient.
    3) excuse me, i'm drunk.
    4) what happens if you ping your router, or google?

    Re: Out-Of-Body Experience or OBE

I'm serious! I had to keep changing and testing this MATLAB script which took a while to run, so i'd start it and go on facebook. This morning, while trying to get up, I dreamed I was either this...
  14. [ubuntu] Re: what a disaster I cannot understand how this could happen

I dunno. It might not be fsck.ext2 because your systems have survived thus far. It's worth checking which versions of fsck.ext2 this is a problem for, and if it's possible that it happened to you....
  15. [ubuntu] Re: Upgrade stalled, what are my options to complete?

That is a good idea. If you want to try more stuff while on the internet, run the LiveCD, then go to terminal

    sudo mount -t <file system> /dev/sd<your root> /media/disk...

    [ubuntu] Re: Internet Issues

    try

    sudo dhclient eth0

if that doesn't work, post the output of

    dmesg | tail
  17. [ubuntu] Re: what a disaster I cannot understand how this could happen

I'm not at all clued up on RAID, but if you run fsck.ext2 on some versions of ext4, it can't tell the difference and really screws it up.
