Most of the time, platinum/gold tests are just winehq testers copying over the windows install. What if we don't have windows?
Good Point.
I have two valid versions, they just don't activate anymore because I've used up all the activation slots due to constant reinstallation!
Well, with the way you said it, "Get one online." I don't think getting windows xp from an online distributor for free is legal.
Are you doing what oldfred is telling you to do?
I think xdm is pretty neat, if you can figure out how to show an image in the background using imagemagik.
But alas, it doesn't show a list of users.
*walks away*
Are you suggesting I pirate? I haven't done that since December 2007!
Not to mention, none of my windows can activate in a VM, since they're higher than XP SP1; Windows can detect if it's run in a VM and tell you that it can't activate and that you need a new cd key.
I have none, I don't need Windows anymore.
Just wondering then: Why the hell does google/etc. give instructions on editing the grub.cfg and not what you did? It's very frustrating.
Then you're SOL if gk/sudo can't do it, we don't give instructions on how to login as root, it's against forum policy.
This might help:
http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/GRUB#Error_18
put a / before boot/grub
so it should read
gksudo gedit /boot/grub/grub.cfg
You don't login as root.
1. ALT+F2
2. gksudo gedit <path/to/filename.ext>
When in terminal, in the source root dir:
./configure
make
make install
in that order
Did you remove wnck, tomboy and banshee recently? If not, did you upgrade recently?

Here you go,
gnome panel won't appear and cannot run when gnome-shell runs (nor can gnome-shell run when a panel can't be quit.)
Transitioned to docky for now.
Shiznat, opening a file adds it to the playlist, rather than replacing the playlist. Repeat is repeat the entire playlist and not one track.
Looks like I'll be sticking with totem! Unless this bug...
Currently, gnome shell lacks:
-- Indicator Applet for Empathy/Evolutin
-- Weather Applet for next to the time
-- global menu replacement (because global menu requires gnome panel)
-- alt+tab...
Says the man with windows malware in his/her avatar.
Call it *nixbun
too bad gnome panel is being thrown out the door for gnome SHell.
I use cairo dock, I never hide it, because quite frankly, I often don't see the statusbar of firefox, unless it's to activate...
