  4. Re: this package has discontinued maintenance

What seems to happen in the real world is this, assuming that there's no security issue: there comes a point when the package won't work because it needs libraries that are no longer available.

  6. [ubuntu] Re: How to save your old Tomboy notes files

If you still want to use a note application like Tomboy, the notes can be imported into Gnote. Gnote looks very much the same as Tomboy. (At least, if my old memory is good enough, for it's some...

  8. [lubuntu] Re: Brother scanner not working in lubuntu version 20.04

I have a Brother printer/scanner I was able to get to work in Xubuntu 20.04 by using the command

    sudo ln -sfr /usr/lib64/sane/libsane-brother* /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane

  9. Re: What is your fav DE (desktop environment) or WM (window managers)

It depends on what I'm doing and what the "hardware" is. On my main box, I use Xfce4 (Xubuntu). If I'm running a machine or VM with limited capabilities, I use OpenBox.

  17. Re: Does it Hurt PC to Switch From One Ubuntu OS to Another Constantly

I suppose if there's any mechanical switches involved, there could be some wear and tear on those, but would this be any worse than powering laptops off and on? They seem to survive fairly well.
