  1. [ubuntu] Re: Chopy & poor performance 21.04 vs 21.10 - Dell i3 2nd Gen

If it is working why did you upgrade? The non LTS releases are in a way betas in preparation for the next LTS, so not surprising that they are kind of hits and misses.
  2. Re: Firefox won't run in 21.10 under tigervnc-server

Firefox in 21.10 is a snap package though someone reported that both snap and deb versions are installed. So.. just uninstall the snap. I am sure that the .deb is still in the repository since the...

[SOLVED] Re: What AVIF viewers are there?

It depends on the libheif version against which gimp is linked. It doesn't work if libheif is < 1.9. I compiled gimp on Ubuntu 20.04, libheif in repo is 1.7 so it didn't work, upgrading libheif to...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: issue with a few packages held back after 20.04 upgrade

You should use ppa-purge to purge the deadsnake ppa then your problem will be resolved. If you need a different version of python use something like conda, it is a always a bad idea to mess with...
  6. Re: No full screen with YouTube on Firefox or Chromium, just Chrome

It sounds like maybe a graphic driver issue (VM doesn't use host gpu so no problem?)

Did you enable hardware acceleration? Any output from terminal if you start the browser with cli?
  7. [ubuntu] Re: issue with a few packages held back after 20.04 upgrade

Well it looks like you have installed some packages from bionic and it breaks compatibility. What I don't get is how does bionic have python 3.8.12, do you use a ppa for bionic for some reasons?
  8. Re: Ubuntu 21.10 virtual desktop settings

Will the .deb version get updates? I just downloaded the tarball from Mozilla and tried it on Arch (gnome 4), it works quite seamlessly. Maybe all the packaging stuffs are not necessary.

Re: problems with mpv of late ...

It doesn't if you only watch videos locally. If you stream online it does, but the said python script despite its name works on many sites which don't have eula restrictions.

Re: No more snap for me.

It is easy to uninstall the firefox snap and then just grab the tarball from Mozilla. Moreover I am sure there will be a ppa by 22.04 since debian will not likely switch to snap so deb version will...

    Re: can't see videos online

I think OP is talking about video clips online. AFAIK vlc can only stream Youtube and not better than 720p. mpv+youtube-dl can do much better (and there are mpv browser addons) but that doesn't...

Did you install Ubuntu-restricted-extrass? It contains codecs you may need. And as Holger said you should remove the ffmpeg ppa.

does hardware acceleration (vaapi) work with the flatpak? With the .deb it works beautifully on my old intel netbook here. How about installing extensions? Does it work?
