I'm using a i7-4790 on the board. What you hope to use should work. My issue is that most Ubuntu programs don't work or load, even browsers!

[SOLVED] Re: Virtualbox UEFI 16.04 Issue

My system is Skylake, 64bit, 170 ASUS MB, and I would think 16.04 is still doing things to cover compatibility issues, if any. Using Unity.

The whole thing for me has been when I GPTed and UEFIed...

[SOLVED] Re: Virtualbox UEFI 16.04 Issue

Gosh, I've tried to move by turning this drive back into MSDOS format. Then tried to install VBOX. Conflict with mismatch:

  16. [ubuntu] Re: "VirtualBox kernel modules" on Xenial Xerus failed

Somehow I'm not getting through. I boot 16.04 under UEFI. Then I try to install VBox, it fails. There no booting of VBox involved.

  17. [ubuntu] Re: "VirtualBox kernel modules" on Xenial Xerus failed

Thanks, this is all well and good, but I don't have a working VBox.

So I wait until someone fixes either VBox or 16.04 under UEFI. <sigh>

MAFoElffen, no issue with booting the UEFI install, either from an m.2 or SSD. The issue is installing VBox.

  20. [ubuntu] Re: "VirtualBox kernel modules" on Xenial Xerus failed

Bucky Ball, is your 16.04 install UEFI? That's the whole issue with me. Installing as BIOS VBox works just fine, .deb or not.

  22. [ubuntu] Re: "VirtualBox kernel modules" on Xenial Xerus failed

This is so old, has little to do with what we are installing now, with 16.04 and UEFI.
