Kernel 4.1 has gone to rc7. Not in Mainline PPA yet.
EDIT: - RC7 now in Mainline PPA.
Quick answer: DX12 is Windows 10 only. The Linux equivalent will be "Vulkan", which was only launched a few weeks ago.
RC7 has appeared:- http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.0-rc7-vivid/
Linus has said 4.0 final will drop next week (possibly the week after as he is travelling).
Hopefully, there won't need to be an rc7, letting it go final before the Kernel Freeze on April 9th.
Have to say I'm liking systemd, as since moving to Vivid, upstart was waiting a full 30 seconds to start USB so I could log in.
Systemd is MUCH quicker off the mark for me, but I do seem to get a...
I enabled vivid proposed & installed 36 - no issues so far.
Apparently, Linus ran a poll on G+.
So kernel will officially be called 4.0, and codenamed "Hurr durr I'ma sheep".
From the commit message:-
Is numlock set to ON in BIOS/UEFI?
Does greeter turn it off if so set?
Actually, it seems Linus has forgotten what he said in 2013, and is opening the window for 3.20.
3.19 went final yesterday. Just waiting for it to appear in the repo.
Anyone know when it'll be pushed across to main?
(Unwilling to enable proposed, worried about breakage)
There seems to be a regression since RC4 that causes "lock-ups". Kernel bisection is ongoing.

Funny, mine is currently installing 3.16.0-12. Have you rebooted since upgrading?
Seems to be a Webmin error, as it doesn't show when accessed directly. Marking as solved.
Hi all,
I have a baffling problem.
My fresh install of 14.04.1 desktop (used as a file server) with only Webmin, Sabnzbdplus, Transmission & ZFS-native installed is refusing to install any...
Wrong thread, sorry
Your syntax is wrong. Try "sudo service transmission-daemon stop"
Phoronix is reporting that Linus is pretty happy with this one but wants it testing before calling it final. Also due to his family holidays coming up shortly, the 3.16 merge window is already open.
Hello Ian_Worrall, this forum is for the discussion of Utopic Unicorn issues only, the release schedule can be found here
But it can't. At time of posting, link goes to empty wiki page.
Unicorn? That's the Bronies in, then! :D
It's not. Kernel Freeze was last week, and 3.14 final didn't make the cut.
ISTR chunks of 3.14 have already been backported to 3.13. The whole thing may land late July, as I posted above.
Not until the release of Ubuntu 14.04.1 on 24th July.
3.15 will be stable by then (maybe even 3.16) so 3.14 may get skipped altogether in the official release.
