Thanks, worked for me; fixed eth0 "device not managed" on 14.04
Nautilus display is now just as I wanted it. That "Me" annoyed me!
However - When I start Nautilus from the command line I get:
$ nautilus

At the stage when you remove non-system users, instead of "998" in the command, use "1000" - that will leave the original installation user defined. Then edit /etc/password (still under chroot)...
