To followup, reformatted both drives (mp3 and 8gb pen) last night (fat32). Both are functioning properly. I have not been using the safe removal unmount on either windows or ubuntu. Will start using....
This has helped. I am still learning the very basics. What happened was I installed a few programs using terminal (not available through repositories).
After trying the software and not getting it...
Will do this tonight when I get home. Thx.
Upon messing with this further, I realize the following. when i mount the drive I have full read/write/delete permissions. When I enable hidden files and try to delete .Trash i get the read only file...
Swim like your avatar, going to see them this summer!! :D
Your code worked, my desktop trash is clear thanks!!
My prob now is I cannot clear the .Trash folder from my 8GB pen drive. Keeps...
Thanks Ann. Tried the trash code. Here is what I keep getting:
zac@Home-Office-PC:~$ cd ~/.local/share/Trash
zac@Home-Office-PC:~/.local/share/Trash$ rm -r *
rm: descend into write-protected...
Exact same prob hear w/ both my USB drives (mp3 player and 8GB pen drive).
To get mp3 player to work (initially) had to reformat FAT32. Worked like a charm for a few days and then out of nowhere...
Thanks for the input. So firstly, can you give me a command to clear trash with terminal?
Also, the majority of the probs I have right now are with removable USB drives. Half the time I can't...
Is there a way to do away with ALL permission restrictions for a specific account (ie. allow my account to access and delete anything at will). This has BY FAR been the roughest part of my transition...
Just setup 360mediaserver. Sorts files so that's a plus. However, same thing happens as when using Twonky. Music plays but then cuts out.
Why would this happen? FYI, As stated above I am...
I found a post which is now eluding me that gave me a two step process on how to install Amarok-2.0.1.1 through terminal. Now i don't want it any more and am trying to remove it.

Your link points to a tutorial on how to setup Ushare. As stated above, Ushare does not handle ID3 Tags. I have a very large library of Music and must have sorting to make any sense of it all.
Bump!! Lots of people trying to accomplish this I'm sure. Anything?!
I have done lots of research and am thinking its a lost cause (at least for now):
Ushare works, but without support for ID3 tags its useless to me. With a library of over 5000 songs; game over.

Problem solved; had to add dns_nameservers entry to squid.conf from data found in /etc/resolvconf
Would the fact that my network connection is wireless matter? thought I saw somewhere that squid has problems if connections are not established in time.
Its always 10 secs or so after I log on...
FYI. The tutorial I followed was a 3 step process:
Install and conf squid
Install and conf DG
Create an exec file with a single ip table redirection command
Update init.d to include redirection...
sudo /etc/init.d/squid restart
I'm running 8.10 & I finally have a transparent proxy setup using Dansgaurdian and Squid for content filtering and it works very well.
Prob I'm having is that my internet never works after booting...
Very helpful thanks.
Yes, the point was to install squid w/ dansguardian for filtering. It all works EXCEPT:
I always have to restart squid after booting up to enable internet. Why?
OK. Well I got it functioning; thank you! But now, for some reason, upon rebooting the machine I always have to restart squid (takes a few 10-15 secs) to get my internet functioning. Insight?
I need to create a file with a single iptable redirect command. I need it in /etc/init.d/
File to be called 'transparentproxy'
I'm assuming I have to do this from Terminal for rights.
Can...
You still tracking doc?
Please do not apologize. I really appreciate your help.
