    To followup, reformatted both drives (mp3 and 8gb pen) last night (fat32). Both are functioning properly. I have not been using the safe removal unmount on either windows or ubuntu. Will start using....

    Upon messing with this further, I realize the following. when i mount the drive I have full read/write/delete permissions. When I enable hidden files and try to delete .Trash i get the read only file...

    Exact same prob hear w/ both my USB drives (mp3 player and 8GB pen drive).

    To get mp3 player to work (initially) had to reformat FAT32. Worked like a charm for a few days and then out of nowhere...

    Your link points to a tutorial on how to setup Ushare. As stated above, Ushare does not handle ID3 Tags. I have a very large library of Music and must have sorting to make any sense of it all.

    Would the fact that my network connection is wireless matter? thought I saw somewhere that squid has problems if connections are not established in time.

    FYI. The tutorial I followed was a 3 step process:

    Install and conf squid
    Install and conf DG
    Create an exec file with a single ip table redirection command
    Update init.d to include redirection...

    I'm running 8.10 & I finally have a transparent proxy setup using Dansgaurdian and Squid for content filtering and it works very well.

    Prob I'm having is that my internet never works after booting...

    OK. Well I got it functioning; thank you! But now, for some reason, upon rebooting the machine I always have to restart squid (takes a few 10-15 secs) to get my internet functioning. Insight?
