By hearing your symptoms, it looks like your drive is about to fail.
I wanted to try GNOME 3, so I did. Since I left Unity I only had "A system error has encountered" happens once, and that was with Empathy.

Have you tried upgrading the firmware of the SSD? Corsair has had some stability problems, especially Force 3 series.

TeamViewer has worked flawless on my laptop with 12.04. So I am not sure what you have done wrong.

If you have a discreet AMD card, then download the installer to a USB stick, cd over to the USB stick, sh the installer as root and follow the on screen instructions.

Doing the chmod command only makes the file executable, it does not run it.
Try running the configure script now, and then make.
If that doesn't work, have you tried "sh" instead of "./" ?
