Re: HOWTO: Get 7 working buttons on MX510

This mostly worked on my MX510 as well, which is also going through my Linksys KVM. The extra buttons work in Firefox, but the back and forward (4 ad 5, I believe) move the scrollbar in Nautilus...
  2. Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06: New Guide

I got it to work fine with my KVM. The only thing different was that it detects as "ImExPS/2 Generic Explorer Mouse", so the rule you make has to reflect that instead of the Logitech USB or...
  3. Re: Weird negative effect with semi-transparent pngs

    Why not?
  4. Re: Weird negative effect with semi-transparent pngs

That works fine, and setting it to white and making it transparent looks good. My original idea was to just add a highlight to that to make it look glassy.
  5. Re: Weird negative effect with semi-transparent pngs

I can't think why I wouldn't be, and it looks like millions of colors to me - how do I check?

Do you have a Nvidia card as well?
  6. Re: Tribler : the best bittorrent client for linux ?

How does it compare to utorrent?
  7. Re: Weird negative effect with semi-transparent pngs

Hmmm. Well, two things come to mind. The first is the way my video card handles transparencies. It's a Nvidia 5900, a little bit older but a good gaming and all-around card. What is your graphics...
  8. Re: Weird negative effect with semi-transparent pngs

I'll try making the panels the full size instead of tiling the background image.

Here's what I have. I used the default gradient in The Gimp called "brushed aluminum. As you can see, it comes...
  9. Weird negative effect with semi-transparent pngs

I like the idea of a shiny yet semi-transparent panel. If you select an image, say one with a simple gradient and highlight, then you can't change the transparency.

I am trying to get around...

    Re: Shiny Cubes

Very nice. How did you make those?
  11. Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06: New Guide

Cool How-to, thanks for posting it. I have a question:
To the best of your knowledge, will this work if the mouse is going through a KVM? Or does it absolutely have to be plugged into a USB port?...

    Re: Something lighter than Azureus?

Not sure for right now, but uTorrent is supposed to have a Linux port in the works. It's very light, runs off a 150KB .exe in windows, and is very nicely featured.

Poll: Re: ubunu is cute, but its still stone age

Done. But only because the girl in your avatar is so pretty.

I've decided that the CLI is the scapegoat for not being able to get stuff done (for the Windigrants you describe). There are a...

Poll: Re: ubunu is cute, but its still stone age

Aha, missed that part of it. My bad. In my defense, he did say later in that post:

That's a good point, and one backed up by the article you linked to, in the part regarding "no...

Poll: Re: ubunu is cute, but its still stone age

OK, fair enough - I've seen your name quite a bit here and you're obviously quite knowledgable. However, if you hadn't said that, I might still be under the impression that most of Ubuntu's...

Poll: Re: ubunu is cute, but its still stone age

    That's not what was stated.

Not nearly as often as one has to in Ubuntu. As for that example, I've used ipconfig exactly three times in the 4 and a half years I've had XP.

    No, but...

Poll: Re: ubuntu is cute, but it's still stone age

You could borrow a plain copy of the same version (XP Home, XP Pro, etc) and use your serial with that version. The software on the disk does not have the serial on it, it checks it through an...
