I've had similar problems on lubuntu quantal. You can try installing a different sound manager on the software center. Try alsamixer and let me know how it goes

have you tried compressing the folder to a .rar or .7z?
have you entered these commands
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
sudo apt-get update
might sound stupid but have you actually tried to install libreoffice from the software center
there arent any "facebook" desktop apps for ubuntu but if you check the sofware center you should be able to find some programs that will work for you like notification alerts, and programs similar...
open terminal, type in those commands and paste the output here in CODE brackets

That would be highly impractical because Chromebooks come with a very small, if any physical storage. One option is to install Puppy Linux because is installs directly to the RAM. I'm not totally...
