BTW if you just want to compile or patch Grub "legacy" but don't need the netboot feature you can compile it without the options: --enable-diskless --enable-eepro100
THANKS, icc. Excellent post, everything worked flawlessly.
I've been looking for months for a grub compilation howto... IMO it should be moved to the Tutorials section.

EDIT: there's a guide here but you'll have to read the latest posts in the discussion to apply phc to the new kernel in 9.10:...
The AWUS036H uses an RTL8187L. If you're on Karmic try the method explained in the first post here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1377573
Thanks for posting the patched driver!
BTW I've finally found a patch for kernel 2.6.32 here: http://trac.aircrack-ng.org/attachment/ticket/650/rtl8187_2.6.32.patch
I'd go with CFQ with the new low latency patches, or better yet you could try tweaking granularity, etc. in sched_fair.c as per http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/Kernel/2009-09/msg04417.html
...
There are a few patches here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1378676
The patches only allow customizing colors and position of the popup, nothing more ATM.
+1
I don't understand why it doesn't at least support a text or xml config file... sure we can hack notify-osd's source code, but that means having to reapply the patches at every update.
Anyway, decent support for the discard infrastructure in libata is available in kernel 2.6.33. SSDs need it for the internal garbage collector (increases lifespan and performance).
Unfortunately,...
Excellent script. Thanks, soundcheck!
Vifm. It's based on ncurses.
