why not make them operational , put edubuntu on them and give them to day cares or the like?

my experience with on line courses and colleges is that they will tell you you must use windows. all papers and class work must be submitted in a windows format docx or what ever the current one is....
there are several Colleges and universities that offer on line courses I know MIT offers several at different times that you can audit ( free) or pay for certification.
I have several HPs. all have worked well on several different flavors.
in times past windows installs had to be done first as windows cant read ext partitions and see them as bad sectors and wont install. is this still true?

i would get an external hdd and install to that. with an external you can get as large as you want to and after you get your new computer you will also have a back up system.
