    The correct driver may be installed by getting a temporary internet connection by ethernet, tethering or whatever means possible and doing:


    sudo apt update
    sudo apt install git dkms...

    Nothing here suggests that the wireless is not working as expected. Does the interface show up here?

    Does it scan and see networks?

    From the USB live session, check to see if the wireless is turned off:


    rfkill list all

    Did the driver load?

    I suggest that when the installer offers to install updates and proprietary drivers, etc., that you NOT accept. I wonder if this is how the backport driver got installed originally.

    The driver in question doesn't actually cover your 0bda:a811 device. I am very sorry that I didn't catch it before today. Let's fix it:
