Re: Software to get laptop details

Is there are reason for needing a csv file of the output, as having just done it that way for the first time ever, I find it almost unreadable and useless.

I would suggest you use html output and...
  2. Re: Mount point for shared folder in Ubuntu

Ignore the request for a mountpoint, leaving the box blank and it will still work fine in my experience. I never set a mountpoint but left it to mount automatically.

[ubuntu] Re: updater doesn't work since morning

Please run command sudo apt update and show us the complete output you see in terminal which may give us a lot more useful information.
  5. Re: ubuntu software upgrader doesn't start when I click on the icon

But you still need to use sudo except for the apt list, though you will not need to enter your password again as that is what will be cached.
  6. Re: ubuntu software upgrader doesn't start when I click on the icon

Don't forget that you will have to run all the apt commands shown by kbar as root, and will therefore have to use sudo before each command, ie, sudo apt update etc etc.

I do not know alsamixergui but use command alsamixer in terminal.
This will open an ncurses view of all the inputs and playback devices, but in my case at least opens showing playback only.

    Re: No GUI desktop

Thread moved to MINT. which is more appropriate and a better fit as there are many differences between Ubuntu and Linux Mint..
  9. Re: Script not running in OS restart and shutdown

Ubuntu no longer uses the init system having replaced it with systemd a long time ago.
However, I think init will still work if you add things to it as iong as all requirements are satisfied.

  10. [SOLVED] Re: Ubiquity crashes when installing iso to bare metal, or as VM in KVM/QEMU

I'm pretty sure ffmpeg can do that though not totally certain about those PowerPoint slides.

With no GUI how will you check the output as it happens?

Same problem with today's daily iso (20 Nov 2021).
