  1. Re: Mac-style Menu Bar for GTK and Java/Swing applications!

I went through and disabled all 3rd party repositories, but it still gives me that error. I think its odd that I can't force a version (in synaptic) or do the reinstall (with apt-get).
  2. Re: Mac-style Menu Bar for GTK and Java/Swing applications!

    I think I'm stuck. I used
sudo dpkg -i * to install everything in the GutsyOSX.tar.bz2 archive (I ran it in each of the three directories). When I log back in, nothing has changed. Same after a...
  3. Re: Mac-style Menu Bar for GTK and Java/Swing applications!

Has anyone used method zero from the wiki? If so, what order did you need to install the debs in?
  4. Re: Mac-style Menu Bar for GTK and Java/Swing applications!

I tried following the wiki page, but neither the debs (method 0) nor the apt-build method (method 2) worked for me. I did not try the 1st method because it seemed to have a lot of dependencies,...
  5. Re: Mac-style Menu Bar for GTK and Java/Swing applications!

Actually, I booted up this morning, and I have the same situation.
  6. Re: Mac-style Menu Bar for GTK and Java/Swing applications!

The previous page had a post at the bottom that explained it:
Go to menu system > administration > software sources. Pick the "third party software" tab, and uncheck apt-build repository.
    Then in a...
  7. Re: Mac-style Menu Bar for GTK and Java/Swing applications!

I noticed something else, I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem though. I can no longer drag and drop .png images into Open Office word. It looks like it works, but then it locks up, and...
  8. Re: Mac-style Menu Bar for GTK and Java/Swing applications!

I checked out the deb file on page 97. Would it be possible to use a macapplet.postinst to apply the patch? Also, if the package also diverted the original files, it would make the uninstall...

Re: HOWTO: Screenlets for Feisty or Edgy

I followed this, but when I log in, the screenlets crash compiz. I installed compiz-extra to provide the widget layer functionality. When the computer starts, the widgets come up with a black...

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

I found the solution while digging on the AWN forums. The .so file is the compiled file, and it just gets dropped into /home/username/.purple/plugins. Its just that simple.

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

I have the awn dock working, but I can't seem to figure out how to install the pidgin plugin for it. Can anyone help me out with this?
  12. Re: Installing MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) with a Hauppauge PVR-150/250/350/500

I'm getting an error message when I try to run "make" on lirc-0.8.0 and lirc-0.7.2. They are both the same error messages:
    make all-recursive
    make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/lirc-0.7.2'...
  13. Re: Installing MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) with a Hauppauge PVR-150/250/350/500

That's my problem, I dont get anything when i run irw and press buttons. I saw something about blacklisting bttv and cx8800, but that didn't work either.
  14. Re: Installing MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) with a Hauppauge PVR-150/250/350/500

I'm trying to install ivtv 0.4.6, and it works fine. My issue is with lirc not working. I am trying to get 0.8.0 working, but 0.7.2 (the one from the guide) does not work either.
  15. Re: Installing MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) with a Hauppauge PVR-150/250/350/500

Has anyone else used kernel 2.6.15-26 or -27 with mythtv yet? I can't get lirc working on those kernels, and I saw another thread somewhere here that other people were having problems using it.
  16. Re: Installing MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) with a Hauppauge PVR-150/250/350/500

I found how to make this permanent if anyone is interested. In your /etc/modprobe.d/aliases file, add "Options ivtv tuner=50" after the line about ivtv. This will pass the option to the module when...

Re: HOWTO: compiz + aiglx + i915, the NEW guide

I can't boot into gdm. I get the following error message:

GDM: Xserver not found: /usr/bin/Xorg-air :0 :0 -auth
    /var/lib/gdm/:0.Xauth -nolisten tcp vt7
Error: Command could not be executed!...
  20. Re: Installing MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) with a Hauppauge PVR-150/250/350/500

I was having a similar problem, I'm still trying to figure it out. Try this:
    sudo rmmod ivtv
    sudo depmod
    sudo modprobe ivtv tuner=50
    dmesg

That will force ivtv to use a specific tuner. If...
  21. Re: Installing MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) with a Hauppauge PVR-150/250/350/500

I messed around with the mysql stuff and finally got it to let my mythtv user access the database. I have a new issue now though. When I did modprobe ivtv, it would come up as tuner type 4 (no...
  22. Re: Installing MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) with a Hauppauge PVR-150/250/350/500

My mythtv user cannot access mysql, how do I fix this? I'm getting this:

    sh-3.1$ mysql -u mythtv -p mythconverg
    Enter password:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost'...
  23. Re: Installing MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) with a Hauppauge PVR-150/250/350/500

This was a fresh install as well. Besides the steps taken in the guide, the only other thing I've done is compile ndiswrapper on this computer.
  24. Re: Installing MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) with a Hauppauge PVR-150/250/350/500

Maybe this is my problem. When I get to the command "make" for the ivtv drivers, it outputs this:
    root@MythTV:/usr/src/ivtv-0.4.4# make
    make -C driver all
    make[1]: Entering directory...
  25. Re: Installing MythTV on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) with a Hauppauge PVR-150/250/350/500

    @xboxer21:
I'll redo that portion of the guide, and see if that fixes it.
