Yes it is.
Well I guess that is the problem then. Means I just have to live with it, get a lot more RAM, or switch to a dedicated server. Thanks guys!
Physical memory: still 1,5GB left because MC is the only program running. I've tried changing the amount to more but it didn't fix it.
Swap space: I don't think I even have swap space, because it's...
Doesn't seem like it :( Is there anybody that knows what's wrong here and how to fix it?
I have a VPS, on which I run several programs. One of these is a Minecraft server using McMyAdmin.
Lately I have been having some problems, the server crashes when I install a big plugin/mod like...
Thanks that worked!
Is there a way to make your own slide-show? So I can use my own pictures?
I like that idea. I am familiar with screen because I run an Ubuntu server, so I think i'm going to use this!
Thanks everyone!
Yes but that starts up the default GUI, which is not what I want. In Windows you can just run a .bat file and it will start up a terminal (mostly used for Bukkit servers which don't have that GUI).

Thanks for your answer!
Take a look here.

OK in the meantime I fixed it myself. I made some screenshots in Windows of connection settings, and I found out Ubuntu tried to connect with the Tunneled TLS method, while Windows was connecting...
Could you explain to me how to do this? I don't have much experience with networking...
Well the problem is they are not into Linux/Unix. My school is sponsored by Microsoft which means almost everything is Windows based.
Nobody could help me here.
Is there nobody that knows what's wrong here? I now have to use Windows 7 every time on school just because the network is not working, even though I would like to use Ubuntu as much as I can.
Using Ubuntu 13.04 I can't connect to my school network.
It is secured with WPA & WPA2 Enterprise and I have to enter my username and password school provided.
This does work on Windows 7, and it...
OK so that did not work, I installed the new kernel, rebooted, checked the version using "uname -r", it was a different (and a newer) version of the kernel before the update.
Then i've ran "sudo...
I guess I just installed the kernel you suggested, how can I check I actually installed it? Is there some kind of command I can run?

I've just installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu 13.04, it's the only OS on this Laptop.
I just got it back from repairs, and I was installing everything I need in Ubuntu.
Everything worked correctly,...
When my laptop somehow loses Wi-Fi connection (out of range, hibernating), it won't connect to the network again.

I found out it does the same with the game community program called Steam, which means it's not caused by Java.

I've just bought a new headset (Corsair Vengeance 2000 7.1 Wireless) and although it only has a Windows driver, it works well in Xubuntu. I can watch video's and play games and the sound is perfect....
