  1. Re: I feel unsafe using network facing app without Firejail .... What about you ?

Would also recommend the use of ad blocker on any browser. Sites do not have control of what ads are placed on them and quite a few of trusted sites have ad malware.

Re: Can I Let Windows 10 Go?

For general hardware I would recommend having a small Windows partition for bios and firmware updates. There are usually ways of doing it from Linux, but usually faster and easier just to boot into...

Re: The New Ubuntu Unity Desktop

Did a clean install of 18.04 a couple years ago. Gnome settings would not work, installed unity desktop and have not look back. Have upgraded to 20.04 and will keep for at least a couple more years.
  4. Re: Which brand of printers should I stick to?

I have read that Bother's are decent, but 20.04 seems to be having a lot of trouble with printers/wireless and a few other things that worked well in earlier versions. I have a Pantum printer that...
  5. Re: Horrific state to be in. Can't install Ubuntu due to HDD issues? HELP!

[SOLVED] Re: windows10 on home router safety?

There are quite a few good free anti-virus programs for Windows. Would go to ninite.com(safe, no gimbits) to install all programs(free) your son might want to have before going to other sites. ...
  7. Re: I feel unsafe using network facing app without Firejail .... What about you ?

Don't use Firejail and have not had anything bad happen yet. More concern about companies with our data that have weak security. Every week or two read about someone leaving all our data out on a...
  8. Re: Is it a good idea to have the same password for multiple computers?

Should be different, but if the computers are only used by one person and you are the only other person that touches them with no remote access, you might cheat with one password. With remote access...

[ubuntu] Re: Question on 20.04 upgrade to 20.10...

Have not checked, but think update setting is above upgrade setting. Update setting should have daily, weekly, biweekly or never. Upgrade be LTS only, all, or none. You will have to check, but...

[ubuntu] Re: Question on 20.04 upgrade to 20.10...

20.04 is long term and good for 5 years. 20.10 is good for only 9 months. I imagine that your software and updates are set to notify for every new upgrade, can change to only LTS upgrades or none. ...

Re: Upgrading 32 bit install to 64 bit?

Can upgrade to 32 bit 18.04 from 16.04, but will not have that option for 20.04. Changing from 32 bit to 64 best way is a clean install, if you want to be nice to yourself.
  14. [ubuntu] Re: Pre-check if I can upgrade Dell Vostro 1015 from 16.04 to 18.04

I would check that your CPU is only 32bit. Quite a few 64bit CPUs came with a 32bit OS. Might be able to change to 64bit OS, but does require a full install, not upgrade, with lost of data if not...
  15. [ubuntu] Re: Pre-check if I can upgrade Dell Vostro 1015 from 16.04 to 18.04

Should be able to upgrade to 18.04, but that is the last upgrade for 32bit. You can't upgrade to or install 20.04. If any important data on machine, should have backup just in case. Will have to...
