    Poll: Re: Linux Usage

Have to use windows on other people's and institutions computers. On mine Linux all the way. Voted 90%.
  4. Re: January 2007 Desktop Thread (Safe for Work content only)

Yep, I'm using the KDE package. It's picking up on my KDE widgets theme and I've told it to show icons and previews.
  5. Re: January 2007 Desktop Thread (Safe for Work content only)

Really happy with this now. Had to change two to JPEGs. Sorry if there's a discernible loss of quality.
  6. Re: Loading Kubuntu side by side with Ubuntu using Gnome

Thanks, didn't know about that. I've been using aptitude anyway (good habit).
  7. Re: Loading Kubuntu side by side with Ubuntu using Gnome

Can someone explain why edgy is different with regards to atp-get meta package handling?
  8. Re: Does anybody sale/buy on Ebay anymore?

I use it loads. Spent my Christmas money on there.
  9. Re: Loading Kubuntu side by side with Ubuntu using Gnome

Don't use apt-get. Use aptitude instead.
  10. Re: Is 512 MB of RAM about all a home user could need?

When I bought my laptop it had 256MB RAM and windows XP. It's got integrated graphics, so that 64MB less. 192MB then. That wasn't enough. Not by a long shot, boot up was slow and with Norton anti...

    Always end up back here.
  12. Re: January 2007 Desktop Thread (Safe for Work content only)

It's amazingly quick, considering how bling it really is. Personally I think the things native to E are very nice. Ie. Engage. The file browser's pretty sweet too (but it needs a close all option)...
  13. Re: January 2007 Desktop Thread (Safe for Work content only)

Tinkering with E17 lately. It looks beautiful and it does what it does very nicely but there's a lot it doesn't do.

Re: USB Wireless Card that will work ootb?

Can you give me actual product numbers. I'd rather not buy something that isn't going to work.

USB Wireless Card that will work ootb?

I've been donated a PC by my Dad. And I'd like to install Ubuntu on it and tinker about. It's fairly old, but its definitely going to be usable under the right conditions: it has XP installed. But...

Re: Project Looking Glass 1.0 Released

That's pretty much what I'd say too. It's a bit sluggish for me with my crappy graphics board. But I think some of its features would be good for usablity. Font's are awful for me, as I don't use GDM...

Re: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6

It'd be nice if someone who's done this can write a shell script :)

Re: How diffrent is your DE

Just don't give it a master password if it's that annoying, it'll open silently then!
  22. Re: Plese list any KDE applications that you like here :)

This thread's bad for me. My KDE-core is steadily gaining bloat.

    Re: Windows Key

If you get some Nail Varnish remover and a cotton wool bud. You should be able to remove the logo.

Not too sure about how to put a different one on.
  24. Re: Plese list any KDE applications that you like here :)

Can you give me a link / instructions for installing that plugin?
  25. Re: Plese list any KDE applications that you like here :)

The stream / transcode wizard is worth using but otherwise Kaffeine still wins for me. Especially for music it has the best sound without tinkering.

I love Kontact, Ktorrent, K3b and Amarok
