This worked for me on the Lucid PowerPC port:
aptitude reinstall gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio
Completely fixed.
Ok, so I'm thinking this doesn't apply to me since my windtunnel G4 uses the nouveau driver with an nVidia GeForce 6600, not ATI
how would I go about turning on/off kms?
I have a Mini 311. I added a SoDIMM to bring it up to 3 GB of RAM (which made a huge difference with Compiz) and I have it set up to dual-boot Ubuntu 10.04 and Windows XP. I haven't booted XP since...
I'm not convinced that it's the kernel, but I think there are differences in how the 2.6.32-xx kernel was compiled for squeeze vs. lucid. I had thought the problem was with udisks until I started...
Also, to find the device location, do
sudo lshw
Scroll through the output and partway down you will find the drive's device location:

Use the following to open the drive for either loading or ejecting a cd:

Replace the "/dev/hde" code with the device location of your drive. An...
I noticed that 2.6.34 is available for Ubuntu 10.04 on Intel machines.. Is there anything like this for the PowerPC port? If so, where? I have heard that 2.6.34 fixes a number of bugs on PowerPC.
abtabt, can you confirm that you've been able to fix this problem on the powerpc port of 10.04 by compiling kernel 2.6.34-xx? If so, is a compiled kernel available to try? Any chance that the "fix"...
The following gives exactly the desired behavior with the ATAPI drive:
eject -T && udisks --poll-for-media /dev/hde
It works for opening the drive, inserting media and mounting/playing as well...
Does anyone know if this is mapped somewhere in the keyboard shortcuts preferences? I seem to remember it being mapped in there in Ubuntu 9.04. Or maybe this is in .xmodmap somewhere?
There is a bug in udisks that prevents media from being detected when loaded into internal CD/DVD drives on Mac PowerPC machines in Ubuntu 10.04. Now that the eject key is properly opening and...
This appears to be the same as the bug reported here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udisks/+bug/590448
udisks is not polling to detect the media. There is a partial solution shown...
I have been troubleshooting another issue when I noticed I couldn't mount certain types of CD media from the command line. when I tried:

The folks over at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/111055 suggested some lines for fstab, but so far nothing has worked for automounting media in the internal CD/DVD in Lucid.
I will take a look. Someone was helping me debug this over in Launchpad and suggested adding a line in fstab - I missed that one. There probably should be an fstab line for the drive since it is an...
Anyone have any experience using ivman in Lucid to do this?
Going from Karmic to Lucid Beta 1 in VMWare virtual machine on a MBP 3,1 went fine, Beta 2 upgrade broke keyboard input - fixes found via forums, RC and final worked fine.

That confirms it's deletion from Lucid...now I need to figure out if this is a udev issue or a hal issue. I thought hal had been removed from the Lucid packages in favor of udev, but apparently I...
I have been trouble-shooting a hardware issue on a G4 Powermac with a clean install of Lucid when I just realized that HAL is installed (version 0.5.14-0ubuntu5). I thought the HAL package was...
