[ubuntu] Triple boot XP, Vista, and Ubuntu

Hey guys, I recently decided and bought a brand new laptop.

I don't think that drivers for ubuntu are an issue at this point in time, but there are a couple of things I'd like to clarify about...

    [other] Re: Multi-boot system

Based on that laptop's specs, I'm not sure it can run all of those OS's. I thought XP needed 233 MHz to run? Could be wrong, though.

These guys make a bootloader called EasyBSD. It's based on the Vista bootloader, but you can run it on XP. Just run it on one of your XP installs and it should work...

    [other] Re: Hardware advice

I'm not familiar with AMD hardware, but from what I can tell, the hardware itself looks fully compatible. I didn't check physical size, but it would be a good idea to go over that as well.

    [kubuntu] Recommended laptops?

I'm planning on buying a laptop for use at school, however I've read quite a handful of horror stories here in the past couple of hours. So I'd like your opinion on a hardware choice.

    I'm heavily...

[ubuntu] Re: Can't install Ubuntu :(

There's also the possibility that it's your ubuntu install CD, if it's scratched up you should consider burning another one. I think that's highly unlikely though.

[ubuntu] Re: Can't install Ubuntu :(

The drive may be physically broken is the only explanation I can think of.

Try downloading a diagnostic utility from the manufacturer of the drive, and use a floppy or CD to boot it in DOS... some...

[ubuntu] Re: Best external hd: esata or firewire?

I would pick esata for a number of reasons. It doesn't need any adapters (to my knowledge) if you're using a SATA drive, it's faster than firewire, and if you're buying a controller card there's...

[all variants] Re: Parts of my keyboard stopps working!

It doesn't sound quite as bad as some other keyboard problems I've had; imagine random letters not working at all.

Good that you worked it all out though.

    [ubuntu] Re: Wireless Issues

I see what the problem here is. It's not cabextract, but he might have put the actual file "driver.exe" on the desktop itself instead of in the home directory. There are 2 workarounds to this.
