Running Arch on my laptop.
I've had cats all my life. Just got the one now which likes to sit on my laptop when I'm not looking. She's done all sorts of weird things to it by standing on the keys. :(
I always get mine from http://www.desktopnexus.com/
:)
Arch running KDE.
I switched to Kubuntu near the beginning of the year. It wasn't really anything to with Unity. I'd always wanted to use KDE but I could never get to work with my wireless, no matter if I had Network...
I'd give Crunchbang a try. http://crunchbanglinux.org/
You can add the ppa to the /etc/apt/sources.list and then sudo apt-get update, then sudo apt-get install <package>

Sound was a major problem for me too when I first started using Ubuntu (8.10 and 9.04) Since Lucid it hasn't been a problem at all.
Wifi was also an issue back then. It would connect but would...
Is anyone else having this problem? There's an example of what I mean in the screenshot. This only started happening earlier today and I think it may be a problem with the Ad Block Plus extension...
I was about to go to sleep but it looks like I'll be up until the early hours now. :)
When I decided that Unity wasn't really for me I switched to KDE. I didn't really see any reason to change to another distro, since K/Ubuntu give me everything I need.
I'll continue to try out...

Right-click on the installer, choose properties and then tick the box to mark it as executable. Wine should start up then. Although I don't know whether it will be able to run the programe.

We can't get rid of Tux!
KDE, XFCE, LXDE, Openbox, Enlightenment and various others. There's lots to choose from. :)
Hi, thanks for posting this. I'll install it now. :D

I couldn't care less. It boils down to man marries his girlfriend. So what!
I can't comment on Unity because I'm using KDE but if you do upgrade it might be a good idea to wait for about a month or two when most of the major bugs should have been dealt with.

I'd say VLC as well. It seems to be able to play just about anything.
I moved to KDE a couple of months ago and I'm loving it. After trying Gnome 3 and Unity for a while I can't really see myself using either of them.
I know exactly what you mean. I'm the same. I don't why but I always feel disappointed if there's no updates available. I think we both need help!
You could try Thunderbird. It should configure your accounts automatically once you've entered your address and password.

P.S It's available in the software centre.
If you're comfortable with the command line then you can do the following -
sudo dd if=/path to the .iso of=/path to your usb stick
for example -

I've been using Arch with Openbox on my laptop recently. So far I'm very impressed. The speed is amazing and I like the idea of a rolling release.
