With the 10.11 drivers I get a black screen when rebooting.

Has anybody got the new AMD 6850 / 6870 cards to work under Ubuntu 10.10 ?

If I boot into safemode and uninstall the ATI driver then the display comes back, back limited to 1280 x 1024.

Appreciate any replies to solve this.

OK I installed the driver as mentioned above, but after the reboot the screen is just black?

No, I basically just installed Ubuntu, rebooted and then had a quick look around.

Tonight I'll install the ATI drivers. Will that fix it?

Yup same here, everyone uses MSN that I know. I've tried to get them to use GAIM but they say "can it do this and that", and thats where it ends. :roll:

Well being a South African, the correct way that Ubuntu would be pronounced by the Zulu speaking people (since it is a Zulu word), would be "oo-boon-too".

I am not recommending Ubuntu to anybody just yet, as I do not believe it's ready for the "average" home user yet. I cannot imagine my mother trying to install Ubuntu, with box type text screens, argh...
