I do.
I would never, ever do something that is specifically forbidden..
Had the same: I think it has something to do with the 64bit version my solution was to use a 32 bit version of Ubuntu.
Have fun!
Well, I've been shopping around a bit: Mint 12/Cinnamon. The choice between old and new was implemented really nicely with this flavor of linux. Downturn is that one has to choose up front. I want it...
Hi, I'm an Ubuntu user for some years now. And like it a lot!
I use Ubuntu for both work and fun stuff. It gets better and better: maybe 2 versions ago one had an occasional crash; I never see...
Ok I figured it out myself:
the extension for Google calendar had not been updated yet to 0.9.
After some fiddling, the world was rosy, nice and great again..
Got the update as well:
Lightning works, but suddenly I cannot write to the GMail calendar anymore.. Anyone an idea why?
Did the trick!

try this: http://www.gpsdrive.de/ . It is in the repositories, so you can easily install it.
there is more, but you'll need to search the internet a bit.
Worked like a charm in 8.04.
Thanks!

There were some issues with using the update, however. I have seen some other posts as well complaining of the same stuff:
= loss of nvidia driver - you can't reinstall it either

No compiling started.. any other tips? (thanks for your reply)
To be able to use my bluetooth headset i need to use an older kernel version. One thing I'm missing though, is the virtualbox module for this kernel. It's not in the (standard) repositories anymore....
And it all works perfectly under 2.6.22.14-generic! which is a gutsy release, if I'm not mistaken, but not under anything newer!!!
took me 3 days to figure that one out!
After: arecord -D bluetooth -f s16_LE test.wav
I get an error. Even so, if i do <cntrl-c> the headset looses it's bluetooth conntection. If I leave it be then after some 20/30 secs i get an error.

Before all: Make sure the driver is installed (but it seems you have done that already)
install 'NVIDIA X Server Settings' with add/remove programs.
play a bit with it.
If you want to...
Hopefully not another bump...
