    [ubuntu] Automatic Wallpaper Rotation

Just did a clean install of 12.04.1 after many years of using 8.04 LTS. So far I like it, but it is hard to find things. This is a generic install right from the iso.

Question: How can I stop the...

[ubuntu] Re: Help with ISO install file to USB

If you use Unetbootin to make a bootable USB, occasionally you'll get a boot error depending on the make of the USB drive. I found a fix if you need it:

Make sure the USB drive is formatted Fat32,...

    Re: Burned Edges In Gimp

Here's a link to a tutorial that incorporates frayed, burned edges as part of creating old parchment paper. Play with the settings to increase or decrease the amount of burn.

Re: Text String Search and Delete in Files

Yup, that did it! Thanks a million, and I learned a few things along the way. Hopefully I can "pay it forward" someday.

Now, how do I mark this thread as solved? Probably right in front of me, but...

Re: Text String Search and Delete in Files

I think you're close, except that not all the PHP files are infected. I thought they all were, but there are a few random ones that aren't. Hence the need for the search parameter I stuck in my...

Yes, it's always the first line. I've been reading and have come up with a modification of your code. What do you think? Is it recursive? There are several levels of subdirectories

Re: Text String Search and Delete in Files

Admittedly I'm more than a little weak in shell scripting. Hate to be a bother, but if "This is just a beginning", I'll need more assistance. I did find some command line implementations using grep...

  16. Re: Which CMS is best for your needs, and your clients needs?

Another vote for Wordpress. Been the Joomla, Drupal route and for most small to medium web sites, Wordpress is very appropriate. Huge install base, large user community, plug-ins for just about any...

  18. Re: Ubuntu Web Design: Inkscape, BlueFish and WordPress

Thanks banago - for some reason I initially had problems with Bluefish, maybe version related (I'm still on 7.10 Gutsy) and found Geany a bit more stable. I use Gftp and have Geany set as the editor,...

  21. Re: Ubuntu Web Design: Inkscape, BlueFish and WordPress

On the lighter side of web design, if you use tableless layouts in your work, coding for IE 6 and it's quirks can be a real hassle at times. The graphic is something I saw at Smashing Magazine.
