  1. Re: 14.10 Upgrade removes Digikam and cites dependancy error at reinstall

Thanks. I'd not seen ppa warnings before. I didn't really want to mess with ppas. But Digikam, which came installed with the distro, so is not some unknown source, had a bug which was fixed in a...

Re: How many of you completely switched to Linux?

The limitations of Unity bumped me off Ubuntu via Mint and Fedora onto finally Kubuntu. Kubuntu has the benefits of Ubuntu quality but with a flexible desktop environment. You just need to install...
  12. Re: Disappointed by Ubuntu 12.10 just like windows 8

If you don't know what a desktop environment is, then you probably don't know that you can install a new one and then you would not go searching for information about it. You would also not know if...
  13. Re: Disappointed by Ubuntu 12.10 just like windows 8

<facepalm> Luckily Canonical don't think that way.

  17. Re: Disappointed by Ubuntu 12.10 just like windows 8

I replied to your post where you, personally, seem to get on with Unity. Whereas I think it is important that Unity is suitable for many different user types. Which is where it has been currently...
  18. Re: Disappointed by Ubuntu 12.10 just like windows 8

Yes. But desktop designers have to take into consideration all different types of users. Some are happy with the dash. Some are happy using the command line only. Some prefer using the mouse.
  19. Re: Disappointed by Ubuntu 12.10 just like windows 8

Clearly Microsoft think there is more to it than being a graphical or textual difference.
  20. Re: Disappointed by Ubuntu 12.10 just like windows 8

Yes there was a mass migration away from the big fat Dash. Many went to Mint. I landed on Kubuntu. Where you still get the benefits of Ubuntu quality.
