    Eclipse is great for java and with PyDev plugin you can do python too in it.

    Netbeans can't do python but i think it is the best Java Ide.

    As i know only jpg,gif and png is supported without 3rd party libs.

    So you either convert it to png or use third party lib.

    with either a BufferedReader or a Scanner

    it won't, AFAIK HTML5 won't have anything for animations only more
    audio and video stuff, which might be enough for youtube but not for
    "artistic" sites and small games....

    There is Flex which also creates swf files and the SDK runs perfectly on Linux.
    some flex apps

    Adobe at least tries to support Linux not let Novell do the dirty work :S

    in Linux environments they will probably never use c#
    because MS wants it to be tied to the Windows platform. There is Mono but that won't be enough
    for most people...
