  1. Re: Now that the Unity hate has cooled down, how do you feel about the WM?

I don't like the interface. And even if I did, it's very slow.

    Re: a freedom 0 writer.

Why not a maximized terminal with Vim running and using LaTeX?
You can write each chapter into a separate .tex file and then include all in one main file. It's distraction free and you can get a...

Those look incredibly stupid. But that's what I said when the iPad was announced, so people will probably buy them.

A bit of everything except hip-hop and some types of metal (e.g., black metal).

    Re: epic judge is epic.

I would make a triangular tablet and drive you out of business.
Everyone knows that triangles are the best polygons.

(or just make a rectangle, since your patent only covers more than 4 sides)

Poll: Re: Do you keep your PC on 24/7 ?

If you don't use it as a server, why would you need it on 24/7?

If I'm going to be away for more than 1h, I turn it off.

    Re: Confession

Confession: I just googled "Time Cube" and my eyes almost bled. I then went to wikipedia to get the short version and my brain almost bled.
  9. Re: Rolling release with good hardware support out of the box

It was more an issue with the camera and the microphone of my laptop. I need them for skype.
Probably some other stuff too, but these I remember because I spent some time trying to get them to work.

    ^This.

I really should invest some time in getting rid of some papers piling up.
    Maybe some day...
  12. Re: Rolling release with good hardware support out of the box

I would love to get Debian on my laptop. That's why I tried LMDE (which supposedly uses the same repositories was Debian testing).
Unfortunately, the hardware does not work and I don't know how to...

    [other] Re: Tileable WM suggestions?

I don't know if you are going to see this reply. But there are plenty of tiling window managers.

The best resource for this kind of stuff is arch wiki:...
  14. Re: Rolling release with good hardware support out of the box

I always wanted to try arch, but I'm not that tech savy compared with most Linux users. Maybe this is a good starting point.

    Thanks :)
  15. Re: Rolling release with good hardware support out of the box

    True.
However, aren't those always lacking on more recent packages?
I had the idea that you have the support, but the more recent versions (12.10, 13.04, etc) would be more updated.

    Cheers
  16. Re: Rolling release with good hardware support out of the box

    Thanks. :)
I think I'll have a look. Since it's based on Gentoo, I was a little afraid that I was going to have to compile everything.

My objective now was to have a rolling release distro. I...
  17. Re: Rolling release with good hardware support out of the box

I've heard a lot of horror stories with upgrades. I also tried it once and it didn't go so well. That's why I always do a fresh install.

  18. Rolling release with good hardware support out of the box

    Hi everyone,

I was thinking of changing to a rolling release Linux distro. I'm getting a bit tired of having to do a fresh install every year or so.

I've tried LMDE, but unfortunately the...
  19. Re: Valve's Newell: Windows 8 "catastrophe" driving Valve to embrace Linux

This is great news, even for non-gamers.

Probably now we'll start to see better hardware support.

Re: Activity here has gone way down

    I haven't tried it either.
But it's not my cup of tea either, so I'll probably use something else.

Like I said, different people. I can only speak for the ones I know.
