I'm running Unity and I get drop-down menus both in my applications and in the top bar. Does anyone know how I can get the menus to just show up in the top Unity bar?
Some more looking around at the issue, it seems to only by affecting GTK2 applications. GTK3 applications look just fine.
I forgot to mention that this is Ubuntu 12.04. I've attached a screenshot of the applications in question.
Yesterday I rebooted my work laptop, which docks and uses two external monitors.
I am now having a few problems. First, some applications look ugly. Thunderbird is gray, and Chromium is an odd blue...

I'm in the same boat. upstart is being held back. Synaptic shows libc6 as being 2.11.1-0ubuntu7.7, while upstart is needing 2.11.1-0ubuntu7.8. I tried switching the mirror from "Server for United...

Unfortunately, my computer is part of a network domain, so seamless mode is not available to me. :(
I'm having the same problem as well. I can RDP into my Windows box just fine, but seamless RDP just gives me an RDP session that takes up both of my monitors and has no windows decorations.

You can get it at http://releases.ubuntu.com/9.04/wubi.exe
I really wouldn't recommend anyone run Ubuntu 9.10 with Wubi. I did it as my main development station and work and it was a very bad experience. I had problems that went well beyond the grub2...
There should not be any files under C:\ubuntu\disks\boot\grub, so that is normal.
If you have uninstalled Wubi, then the folder c:\ubuntu should be gone, and when you boot Ubuntu should not be an...

Out of curiosity, are you sure that you are using the final release CD. This was a known issue in one of the pre-release CDs.
The problem is not in Ubuntu. It is in Wubi. A native install of Ubuntu 9.10 will give you a very stable experience.
I used to run 9.10 with Wubi at work and ran into all sorts of problems. I...

I'd second that the Karmic via Wubi is not very stable. Every kernel update leaves me with an unbootable machine, and I can only boot with the 14-generic kernel.
I believe these problems are mostly...
Did you get the error message posted in this thread? If not, please start a new thread and document exactly what you get on boot up along with any error message you might be receiving.

I'm excited that you found a fix. I look forward to giving this a shot on Monday.
This is on a Wubi install. Is your install also via Wubi?
I installed the latest kernel updates this morning and now when I boot with Linux 2.6.31-16-generic I get "You need to load the kernel first." If I boot with Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.31-14-generic boots...
