  1. Re: Ubuntu Server 7.10: OpenLDAP + SAMBA Domain Controller

This can and does happen on normal functioning Windows networks too. The solution is simple:

Disjoin the Windows PC from the domain, then join again and reboot. As always, be sure to backup the PC...

Re: The Question is "IF not "DOES"

Not sure if your question is really just a matter of semantics, but either way, since your question asks us to ignore what is possible/impossible, my question to you would then be: "Is the roof...

[ubuntu] Re: Permission needed for anything

Something is not right, it should not ask you for your password to shutdown the computer. Are you shutting down from the command line?
  7. [ubuntu] Re: How to Uninstall Postfix and Install Sendmail

    No prob. :-)
  8. [ubuntu] Re: How to Uninstall Postfix and Install Sendmail

"purge" not only removes postfix, but its config files too. I would be very surprised if it removed any MySQL tables in the process. If those tables are very important, you should be backing them up...
  9. [ubuntu] Re: How to Uninstall Postfix and Install Sendmail

I'm not sure if sendmail's installer automatically prompts for configuration information. In the worst case scenario, it will not and you will have to edit the config by hand; no harm, no foul.

I think maybe they tried connecting to his machine's port 23.

@MooPi are you running telnetd on your machine, but using the FW to manage connections to it?
  11. [ubuntu] Re: How to Uninstall Postfix and Install Sendmail

    Remove postfix...

    sudo apt-get purge postfix
    Install sendmail...

    sudo apt-get install sendmail
    Voilà!

    Poll: Re: The brain test

YES! Exactly! Once you do that you can choose which side of her is facing you. It's wild. I'm getting better at it. I'm still clockwise dominant, but I wonder if with time I can alter that. Pretty...

[ubuntu] Re: My system was hacked?!?

I've scanned the IP you PM'd me using several different methods. It appears to be offline, either that or all ports are in stealth mode and the host is not responding to echo requests.
