Thanks for the input everyone. I attached a screenshot of a wifi inspector running from my gf's laptop one/two rooms away. It shows about -40 dBm when I'm in the same room as the router, and between...

Thanks for the input everyone. I attached a screenshot of a wifi inspector running from my gf's laptop one/two rooms away. It shows about -40 dBm when I'm in the same room as the router, and between...
This is a general issue with my network, not Ubuntu. But I run Ubuntu, so I figured it could go here.
I recently moved to a more congested area and since then my wireless connectivity really...
Advertisements are pollution. I don't need my mind being bombarded every minute of the day with companies trying to sell me things. This (among other reasons) is why I don't have cable television.

Neither ext3 or ext4 need to be defragged often (if at all) because unlike with NTFS, files written to ext3/4 are randomly scattered across the file system, so they rarely cause fragmenting issues...
First of all, how can someone's opinion be wrong? Second, why not actually contribute something to the conversation instead of just posting a useless one word post?
I think it looks awful. No...
Cubase is another DAW just like the rest of them. My DAW of choice is REAPER. It does most things Cubase can do, only difference is it's much cheaper and it's less invasive with DRM.
I use the...
I'm not sure if this is your problem, but it's worth a shot. There is an option in nautilus under preferences titled something like "Always open in browser window". I'm not using GNOME atm so I can't...
Awesome, I'll be placing the order shortly. :D Thanks everyone.
Hello everyone. This is the first computer I'll be building to run Linux on, and I need some advice on buying parts for it. I haven't been keeping up with technology as well as I should, so I'm a...
This thread is what got me started using Dvorak, and I'm much more comfortable typing than I ever was with qwerty.
Glad to see it is still going. I wonder if this thread will ever die lol. :)
As of today I'm having the same issue. The disable clientLogin workaround worked for me for now.
hehe I think everyone overlooked that part. No worries, I appreciate everyone's input. For now I'm sticking with my old keyboard and using the dvorak layout (until I find a decent quality/priced...
Well everyone, the keyboard came today, and I must admit, it is extremely comfortable. However, I am having the same issues with the spacebar being abnormally hard to depress. It's a flaw in the...
I switched to dvorak cold turkey as of 2 days ago, and I'm already typing at 20 wpm. It's much more comfortable on my wrists than QWERTY ever was.
I'll report back in a week or so when it arrives (ordered from Amazon for $33. I can't believe best buy has the nerve to sell this exact same keyboard for $70!)
well guys I have decided to take the plunge and order the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. This combined with the dvorak typing layout should hopefully alleviate some of my wrist pain. :D

I went to best buy and tried out the Microsoft 4000 one, and I must admit I love the way it feels. I don't really like the way some of the keys are shaped though (some keys are bigger than others for...
After years of programming on an old fashioned keyboard, playing guitar, and loads of other stressful activities on my wrists, I believe I'm finally starting to take a toll on them (carpal tunnel...
Another thing people should understand is that open source software is often developed for the benefit of the community and is non-profit. What self-respecting developer would try to harm their own...
The majority of people I know, even a lot of power users, have never even heard of 7zip.
I personally use it, but most people use WinRAR since that's what they're familiar with. It already works...

edit: be sure you're calling mysql_fetch_assoc(); you can also use mysql_fetch_row(), but I prefer assoc so you can reference the results by field name...

Someone had to.
On my windows machine I do a lot of music production. It's not uncommon to have 6gb of samples loaded into RAM at one time. Of course, if I had more RAM, I'd probably have another 4gb of samples...
I mostly use nano to edit configuration files, and I install programs via command line, but that's about it. I prefer the convenience of a graphical desktop.
Plus, I play a lot of games. :D
It is so ridiculously easy to spoof a MAC address that's almost worse than no security at all. What kind of IT administrator DOESN'T know that?
